Give him a king title, then assassinate him. You should inherit them. You can raise them for free. Mercs count as ducal titles though, so if you already have two you might want to give one away.

Well is there? i just gave the nominal head a barony in Nikomedia, cant see any change in cost or manpower so far...

They are already your vassals, so it wont really change anything in the costs (i dont think).
If you give them a duchy the title varangian guards should eventually become a hereditary title wich you can marry in to and get for yourself, at least ive done that to the hashashins after the SoI patch and to the knights templars in the most recent patch.

You guys certainly introduce some very interesting ideas about the varangian guards. I'm playing a ERE game now, but since I rarely use vg, I didn't put much thought into them. I guess I'll start looking a bit more into them now.

i gave them a barony and they revolted so i submitted to the revolt and then dow and conq my barony back...now they are gone from merc tab and i cant diplo them anymore...are they gone for good...any ideas...i know im a dumba## but would love suggestions...
