so.... how does the anti pope thing work? ive heard such cool stuff about it... but... i dont see any option to appoint one (and my piety is over 500...) Can anyone explain to me how that whole dynamic actually works?

Haven't tried it myself, but I think you need to have bad relations with the pope and a bishop with high relations to you, and then you can appoint him as anti-pope. Not entirely sure, though.

you appoint them under the religious tab you need free investiture though.

The two main points of it is you can

1. Avoid excommunication
2. Put some kin as the anti-pope then declare war on The Papacy to bring it under your holdings.

The third main point of it is that any bishop who likes your man more than the pope sends his tithe checks to you instead of Rome. So find or raise a nice guy with high diplomacy skill and as many of the 7 cardinal virtues as you can, and you can bring in a Kingdom's worth of gold.
