You could perhaps attack out of East Prussia, to make the conquered provinces become German.

Historically - could Germany have taken on the SU and won without the resources in especially Czechoslovakia?

Historicaly, the Germans offered Poland an Alliance an a nice chunk of the Ukraine if they would join the Axis (I belive this is in CORE HOI1 too, as an option). The Poles didn't think this was such a hot idea and stuck with the Allies and actually made all sorts of nice counter-attack plans to crush Germany in the event of an attack.

Couldn't you seduce Poland and the Baltic States, keep the Allies happy by leaving the Czechs with no protective fortifications, but nominal independence, and invade the Soviet Union FIRST? Why go to war with the Allies until it is absolutely inevitable? And why not hand it to the Soviets before they are ready for war?

You could, it's fun :)

In HOI 1 I often allied with Poland, but it wasn't an easy thing to do. As someone else mentioned, even if you go east first, the allies still end up declaring war on you quite soon.

More often, even if I allied with Poland, I would go west first, usually in 1940 or so. Gave me more time to tech it up.

Is this true in HoI2 too? Does the allies always declare war on you whatever you do? There was no need to try and change strategy in HoI1 because the allies hit you no matter what.

Hi Dhatori,

on some rare occcasions the Nazis showed some pragmatism even when their pet racial theories were compromised. AFAIR Czechs were granted same subsistence rations as Reichsdeutsche because they loyally contributed as much(per capita) to the German war effort. Croats were Slavs too...

But the Poles did not trust that the Germans would leave them be in the long run in spite of any agreements and they were right. Hitler planned destruction or relocation of Poland east of Ural after defeating SU.
