Playing France in the IGC, I declared war on Spain. Savoie was my ally and fighting on my side. Lorraine was fighting with Spain. I began the siege of Lorraine, and all was going well. I was close to capturing the province, when a crappy army of two thousand men from Savoie came up and joined my siege. When it finished, it counted as if THEY had captured the province, what with their flag swinging over it and all, so I was not allowed to annex it. Kind of irritated, I headed north, towards Luxembourg, and sieged it. Those 2000 vultures followed me, and once again, as the siege began, it counted as if it was THEIR siege, even though I was keeping 40,000 men and they were keeping 2000. I was not going to allow it, so I moved my troops away towards some other province and again those crooks followed me! They were actually trying to steal my property, the psycopaths! And there was nothing I could do about it because, being my allies, I could not destroy their army.

So I'll flip the coin to you guys. What do I do? Is there some way to prevent my allies from acting like this, besides refusing their cooperation in war?

And since I'm at it, a few other questions: The IGC on my cpu seems to roll remarkably slower than the normal GC. Is this just a perception of mine, or is the cpu actually having to handle more stuff and thus having a harder time with the IGC? Also, all those new provinces and characteristics (Bretagne being independent, for example), are they historically accurate or just meant to be fun to play? Cause historical accuracy seems like the only thing that would make me want to play the IGC instead of the GC, since because of problems with my cpu I can't set the other main countries to be annexable.

That's all. Thanks, guys.

First problem will be because any leader that is a higher rank than yours will lead the seige. It's a stupid rule, but it can be worked in your favour ;)

For the second problem, I haveno idea what's happening because I've never heard of that problem. Is there anything else that you've done to your computer around the time you installed IGC? Even so IGC is still a HUGE improvement over GC, in all areas of gameplay.

On the second problem, most of the new characteristics are for fun. You don't have to turn them on if you don't want to. And as for running more slowly, unless you had reallly low memory when you downloaded it and it pushed it over the edge of efficiency, I don't know how that could've happened.

Bretagne could be considered semi-independent at the time (it was nominally part of France, but like any lord not directly tied to the king had a lot of freedom). The Habsburgs, having already joined Austria and Burgundy in the person of Philip, had tried to marry him off to Bretagne, but the French royal house beat them to it. So they settled for Joan the Mad, in whom the houses of Castile and Aragon were united. And so, in just two generations, four of the great houses of Europe were united in one man, Charles V/Carlos I. And for two centuries the French could regret getting the drop on the Habsburgs in Bretagne.
