What is a good country to play when trying to learn this game? Nothing too massive preferably. What should you actually try to do when playing this country?
What is the point/goal of the game? I know there isn't really a specific goal but whenever I start it up I just sit there not knowing what to do, and not really being able to do anything. You can't attack anyone because you rarely have a CB; obviously you can attack them but evidently you aren't supposed to hence the imposed penalty.
Your revenue is always negative. Even if you increase your trade revenue the budget is still in deficit because the game seems to auto-spend the extra funds on the research sliders and you can't decrease the total spent (ie: you decrease one slider and all the others increase).
Every country you click has multiple alliances making them impossible to attack even if you wanted to. Offers of alliances pop up non-stop but it's unclear what you will gain by joining, and is very difficult to actually check any stats of the country offering.
Is there some sort of playthough somewhere?
The game literally confuses me; not only because there's a lot to it, but more so because you seem to be unable to do anything. If you could at least expand for a bit or do something it might make it easier to have some sort of goal to begin with. In MotE you are just at war all the time and the reasons for it are at least clear as the game has an objective. The lack of needing a CB in order to declare war makes it too difficult to play as anything other than a massive country though. CK2 requires CB's in order to attack but they can be manufactured directly, or obtained by making vassels of people with claims so I know exactly what I need to do if I want to attack there, and expanding gives you access to more levies as best as I can remember seeing as troops are never directly "built" in that game.
In EU3 I just don't see what you can do, why you'd ever need to expand seeing as you can build infinite troops with only one province owned and what you are meant to be doing.
