1519

I now have 25k men on the Scot border. They will be the garrison against Scotland.
France increased its fleet size, matching mine now. I trust Lord Admiral Howard to defeat the french on seas.

New election occured in the Heiliges Reich. The Holy Roman Empire crown now belongs to Carlos I, of Spain. Damn... Austria lost the crown. His value as ally is now far less impressive.
I also foresee doom falling on Burgundy, now that Spaniards are able to go across the HRE to attack Franche Comté.

The value of the Andalusia CoT slowly but steadily increases as Spain drains more and more exotic ressources from its colonies in Americas. I still contest the trade supremacy in Flandres and less frenquently contests Spain's in Andalusia.

February 1519 : Spanish troops are bound in Lowlands to face the numerous revolts there. No Spaniards were sent against Franche Comté yet.
I don't know what to hope. A peace between Burgundy and Spain will put the Flandres CoT out of control of Spain for a long time but Burgundy will surely be a french reliable ally in the future. So one of my ennemies...
Currently Burgundy is a Portugal ally.

June 2, 1519 : Turkey declares war to Mameluks, supported by Tunisia. Noone agree to help the Mameluks this time.
Looking at the map of Turkey, I'm still amazed to realize that country faced numerous wars in the last decades against many ennemies and only lost one province, Bosnia, to Venice.

September 21, 1519 : Russia declares war to the Golden Horde

September 28, 1519 : Poland, declares war to the Teutonic Order. Then alliances work.
Portugal, Hansa and Burgundy side with the Teutonic Order. Persia and Courland side with Poland.

The Hansa lost two provinces last time they were at war with Poland.

November 1, 1519 : the fortress of Reval, in Estonia is besieged by the Order. Poles and the Hansa are fighting in Mecklemburg.

November 25, 1519 : Dorpat, capital of the Order is now under Polish control. The Hansa managed to repel the first Polish assault on its territory.

1520

After having the control of Dorpat, Order's capital, the Poles armies now head to the Hansa, letting garrisons to deal with the Order recruits of Inger Manland.

Spain wasn't able to send troops against Burgundy, stuck with revolts in the Lowlands.

I have 45k men at Calais, 37k under Field Marshal Brandon command at San Sebastian.
I am spending much money now to equip my armies with cannons to soften the french fortress in the upcoming war. I have to go to war against France this year. Henry VIII made promised to english nobles that Guyenne will be english soon (mission 'Conquer Guyenne' to fulfill before 1522).

Turkey and Mameluks are still fighting. No side has taken an advantage yet.

January 6, 1520 : Algiers and Morocco conclude a status quo peace.

March 19, 1520 : Lorraine becomes an Austrian vassal.

My armies are almost ready.

April 1, 1520 : An explorer leaves England to continue to discover America coast.

May 1, 1520 : the King reluctantly agrees to raise soldiers and sailors pay. War is coming.

And... believe it or not but the month before I declare war to France (planned in June), France gains a new ally... Spain...

But I can't wait more. English nobility wants results, wants to see Guyenne english again.

It will be harder than the two previous war against France. *If* my german allies (Hannover and Brandebourg) agree to enter the war, *if* they send troops against Spain, that can works.
But there is too much *if* to my taste.

After a quick prayer to God, I sent the messenger with the delcaration of war to Paris...

June 6, 1520 : War is declared against France.
Spain dishonored the alliance (surprising :) ) but Scotland and Sweden swore to help Paris.
Of course, on my side, noone will help me.

Diplomats will be sent again, angry, to Vienna, Hannover and Berlin.

Poland is slowly destroying the Hansa, every province being besieged. The last fortress of the Teutonic Order is also besieged by Poles.

June 22, 1520 : Naval battle in the Channel. Lord Admiral Howard engages the french fleet and is quickly and neatly routed by the french... *sigh*

Field Marshal Brandon begins his move to Bearn from Navarre after the french southern army left the province to attack Bordeaux. His army was *almost* ready when war erupted and I wanted to let the french assault the town.
The northern english army is heading to Paris.

July 8, 1520 : 5k Scots entered the Marches and are stopped by my garrison. I do not pursue them into Scotland.

July 16, 1520 : Paris is besieged by 45k english, supported by cannons.
I don't assault the town. My human ressources are limited and the war only begun. I'll wait for Brandon victories in the south.

A huge french army is now besieging Bordeaux. Field Marshal Brandon is going to engage the battle with them. But the french army is impressive. I have no doubt Brandon will be able to defeat the french in battle but will he have enough men to besiege Guyenne after the battles ??

August 17, 1520 : 29k screaming Scots attack the Marches.
I send reinforcements to the garrison.

August 28, 1520 : Scots were defeated but I had too much losses. That man, Mac Tavish, leading the Scots is a damn general. I lost more than 10k men and Scots only 3k.
I now wait for my reinforcements there. I was right deciding to not enter Scotland and attack Glasgow.

September 13, 1520 : Field Marshal Brandon defeated the french at Bordeaux but lost half of his army... The french retreat in good condition to Poitou. I send him to Guyenne.
With an army besieging Paris, if he can take Toulouse, I can force France to accept peace and give me Guyenne.

September 27, 1520 : For the third time, Scots are defeated in the Marches. Reinforcements are coming.
The assault of Paris begins.

October 9, 1520 : Field Marshal Bradon begins the assault of Toulouse, main town of Guyenne.

October 24, 1520 : Toulouse is now english. But Paris resists !!
Brandon is sent back to Gascogne to stop another french army. His army will, once more, be outnumbered. I can't accept to see Bordeaux french. Such a loss for me will raise the french morale.

November 14, 1520 : The English flag floats over Paris. I lost more than 10 000 soldiers during the assault.

French and English diplomats meet under the walls of Paris. Guyenne will be english and I ask for indemnities from France. The french reluctantly accept !
I could have ask more but I wouldn't have be sure frenchmen accept another kind of peace offer.
My armies were in bad condition and I didn't want to be engaged in a long war.

1521

The third french war was short and successfull. Guyenne is a valuable addition to my kingdom.
I, once more, have two loans to repay.
I raised troops just before the war with the first loan to provide recruits quickly to my armies in France.
The second was taken when Scots slaughtered half of my army in the Marches.
It wasn't useful to take it but I couldn't know that few months later, war would be over. I decided earlier to be prudent :)

France indemnities will repay one of the loans, so there won't be a problem to repay the other.

My fleet suffered against french in the first phase of the war and I lost many ships. This is the worst thing which happened during the war and rebuilding my naval might will drain many ressources.

I'll have to manage Scotland hostility in the future. I can't let such an ennemy, each time, raiding my country.

Poland is still besieging the Hansa and the Order fortresses. The outcome of the war is certain : Poland total victory.
Poles will be able to choose to annex the Order, or Hansa, or both, at their whim.

Turkey and Tunisia troops are slowly conquering the Mameluks fortress but the war will probably a long one.

A bad thing is that no diplomats were sent to my german allies. The King (me) !! :) ) attention was entirely focused on France.
Each of my previous ally entered a different alliance.
It's not so bad, in fact, as they are unreliable.

February 19, 1521 : The Teutonic Order ceases to exist, annexed by Poland. Hansa is going to follow the same way. But Inger Manland is belonging to Courland, not Poland.

March 1521 : I fortify northern Ireland and begin to develop my country infrastructure.

August 21, 1521 : Poland accept peace with the Hansa, receiving indemnities. May the Hansa people pray the Lord to thanks him for Polish generosity.

December 21, 1521 : Naples recently entered the France-Spain-Scotland-Sweden alliance. Being no more a Spanish vassal, I decide to increase our relationship. I hope to have them as vassals one day.

December 25, 1521 : Mameluks gives indemnities, Lebanon and Aleppo to Turkey in peace conditions.

1522

Infrastructure development of the land continues. France raises troops in Bearn.
Spanish Lowlands constant revolts is now famous in whole Europe.
I'm struggling to keep the monopoly of Flandres from Spain and Burgundy.

A trading post is going to be established in Wabana, a large island close to north America.
France first settlers left Europe.

April 1522 : a 40k Polish army now stand near the Turkey-Poland border.

June 1513 : First rumors of a french settlement in Gaspesie come to Europe (I just see that France now own the Gaspesie province, having not explored it. I, so, don't know if it's a colony or trading post).
A french trading post is discovered by an english explorer in Placentia, on the same island than the Wabana province.

July 29, 1522 : the attempt to establish a trading post in Wabana failed.

October 11, 1522 : the expedition to find a way to Asia by northen naval lanes failed. There is no naval passage in nothern America which leads to Asia (in fact, succeeding the mission 'Discover Hudson Bay').

End of the year, end of the AAR.

Some numbers now :

Victory Points :

Spain : 647 (199 from discoveries, 161 from economy, 130 from missions)
England : 625 (92 from battles, 103 from diplomacy, 16 from discoveries, 44 from economy, 2 from establishments, 289 from missions, 80 from peace resolutions)
Poland : 281 (110 from peace resolution and battles)
Portugal : 259 (135 from discoveries, 67 from economy)
Turkey : 211 (100 from missions, 91 from battles and peace resolutions)
Russia : 193 (122 from battles and peace resolutions)
China (!) : 179 (149 from econnomy)

Once more, I'm the one who received the less victory points from economy :)

Inflation : 18%, roughly twice less than Spain or France
1522 total income : 585d
1522 total expenses : 369d
Army : 90 000 soldiers including 65 000 in France
Fleet : 28 warships, 5 transports
Colonies : 2 in North America. 1 level 1 colony (Fundy) and 1 level 2 colony (Isle Royale)
Loans to repay : 2 in 1525

Sorry for having posted that in three parts but the forum kept refusing to allow me to post it in one part, then two parts.
So... Three.
Sorry

Good to see the Poles doing well (so far) in an aar. I fear the constant war will slowly waste them away unless they ally with a strong alliance.

Congrats on taking Paris too =)

It seems you have been constantly on the edge, but managed to reach your objectives. And the scots are a real pain. In respect of the VP, it's a great achievement in my view to be in front of Portugal, Turkey and Poland at this moment of the game. The evolution of the situation with Burgundy and in the east was interesting.

Merci monsieur Pierre,
