I was wondering, am i the only one who thinks that EU3 is still awesome and a fully playable game all these years after? Honestly theres not a single game that can hold my attention for nearly as long as EU3 has.
Yes, yes, obviously im aware of EU4 being in development, but the thing is, 2013. right now sounds (possibly) too far away, might as well be 2020. it wouldnt "feel" any different.
So, this thread is basically meant to ask 2 questions; first one is directed at Paradox, second at the community, so here they are:
1.) Is there a theoretical possibility that you (Paradox, and whoever is in charge) would consider making another expansion for EU3? *At this point any "scale" expansion would be welcome, by me at least.*
2.) Do you guys (community) think that EU3 deserves another expansion, and what would you like to see (if anything at all), or do you think that they should focus on EU4 and let EU3 (kind of) die?
Personally (like i said) i think EU3 is still awesome, and its actually my top game ever. The only 2 things that sort of diminish its full value (over time) are some issues that still havent been fixed, and some new stuff that IMO at least, havent fit very well into EU3 base game, and obviously the lack of modding capabilities that we have in newer Paradox games. As far as im concerned, this theoretical expansion would only need to contain some kind of improvement of the horde system (i think thats the only thing that needs further development), the rest of the content could be engine optimization or expanded definies (or those .lua things) containing more exported stuff for us to mod. Its been very long (possibly even too long) and i think its about time we gain access to some of the core game mechanics, for example i see no reason why we shouldnt be able to mod relations cost when you dishonor alliance (or other parts of "harcodded" diplomacy), or some minor things that modify AI behavior (after X number of alliances dont accept any new ones, or whatever part of decisionmaking) etc. Something like that could add YEARS to (my) EU3 experience (without changing the fact that i will buy and play EU4 as well).
Another possibility that id like to think is an option, is porting parts of this new and improved engine (here i mostly mean EU3 getting any performance upgrades and stuff) or for instance the thing that makes provincial names display within provinces in that slightly curved way (CK2 and EU4 screenshots), instead of static positions that we have in EU3 right now. Im sure theres lots of other (seemingly?) "minor" things that could be ported from this new and improved Clausewitz.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
