Is the new Berlin Haupbahnhof modelled in CiM? That would be cool :)

The glass Bahnhoff isn't modelled. But there is a station on the spot. So, perhaps in the future......someone will mod it in.

Thanks for the picture. According to the position on the minimap your screenshot shows the Ostbahnhof (East-Station). Today we have four major train-stations in Berlin for intercity travel: Hauptbahnhof (main-station), Spandau (in the west), Ostbahnhof and Südkreuz (in the south). None of these stations is a terminus. So we need more stations models. :p

I don't think that it's Ostbahnhof.. You can see a part of Alexanderplatz in the top left corner of the pic, so it's way too close to the Alexanderplatz to be Ostbahnhof.

No, look again at Google Maps. ;)
Actually Alexanderplatz is very close but that station represents the Ostbahnhof. Believe me, I live in Berlin. ;)

Alexanderplatz does not have intercity train services, Ostbahnhof does. So there is no reason for the devs to portray Alexanderplatz as a station with intercity services.

Well, I do believe that some regional trains do stop at Alexanderplatz. Also, take a look at this pic. It will explain why that station can't be Ostbahnhof

Südkreuz isn't a major station, it's just handy for Ikea :D

Berlin has some cool landmarks. Does anyone know if the Fernsehturm is in the game?

Nope. ;)

Look at the river. That little bay to the south-east is very close to Ostbahnhof. So is the station on the screenshot. Note that CiM does not recreate the city at full scale, so that the distance between Ostbahnhof and Alexanderplatz in CiM is very small. Question: Do you think the devs have implemented a rather small station like Alexanderplatz and did not implement Ostbahnhof, which is much more important as a train station? Regional trains do stop on many stations in Berlin: Zoologischer Garten, Friedrichstraße, Potzdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz..... just to name a few.

I guess we can argue about that for a long time. If the devs did actually ignore Ostbahnhof they made a mistake in terms of recreating the transport-system of Berlin.

Well, I suppose you're right. I learnt my lesson, I shouldn't argue about the geography of Berlin with a guy who lives in Berlin :D

Also, it also seems that the devs cut the stretch of Stadtbahn from Ostbahnhof to Zoologischer Garten..

Yes, I think we do as there are currently only two models for stations: the large terminus and the small, one platform station. DLC or mods perhaps. It is fun to see you guys having a discussion like this about a map which is, if you ask me, quite accurate to begin with. Anyhow, the playability of the game is most important at the moment.

In a further post I will show the editor and my first attempt to recreate a city, a small one, and the extreme detail of the editor. Couple that with modded buildings and vehicles and this game will surpass any city-builder/ transport-games easily.

And modeling Berlin even with 30% accuracy is a huge task... it is a darn large place lol.. Even Helsinki is not that accurate, but it is still accurate enough to see the reference with reality (which is usually main goal for games)

I lived in Berlin once for 20 years... wondering if I can rebuild certain metrolines...

Riding the Rotterdam metro to my new jobs the last week I got the urge to build Rotterdam in the editor and create the metro-lines just as they are. Will be a nice project for sure if I can find the time.

Here's something from another thread you guys might be interested in, it also shows the farmvillages to the north of Berlin.

According to a statement of CO, such a feature is actually not in production but will be taken into consideration.

Their prioritys are elsewhere at the moment.

From the version I use for my AAR it looks like they have changed vehicle. When introducing multiple vehicles on a line they won't all start at the same point. Wait, let me show you:

Neither they have done in the open beta ;) The point was a schedule to set exact intervals between the busses which must be adhered to.

An example:
If on vehicle (bus) breakes down at the moment the other busses are building a queue behind it. So when the bus which broke down is ready for driving again, the other busses will always stay close behind the one which broke down. So the line cannot work efficiently anymore.
So many users wish a schedule to set fix intervals.

Anyway, I read somewhere that CO is actually not planning to introduce this feature, that's all I wanted to say with this post ;)

i second this as it is very annoying. sometimes i get up to 5 vehicles, one behind the other because of broken down vehicles, parades or accidents. Then all my work setting that line with spacing between the vehicles is wasted.

No-one knows better than a bus-driver that when a bus stops at a bus stop, it could be hours before it leaves again. When I'm driving my bus and the bus in front of me stops, I always allow enough room to drive around him if he gets stuck for any reason. I'd love it if in real life, cars would quietly queue up indefinitely behind buses when they stop at bus stops, because it would make my job much easier. But really they just overtake at the first opportunity and often after the last opportunity too...

The modelling of bus breakdowns is also not very realistic. In real life, when the bus breaks down (generally when it reaches a bus stop but then can't get going again), it stays put for at least one hour while the overworked guy in the breakdown van makes his way from a depot on the other side of the neighbouring city with the vital fan belt/jump-start leads/headlight bulb/etc.

You already can fly your helicopters above the airport which in reality would cost the pilot his licence. So why not above the Soviets...

Even better than that: you can build elevated metro lines right over the runway, and it doesn't stop the jets flying through your tracks to take off and land!

Does that happen:confused: I have been going to school and work by bus for four years and never seen one breaking down.
