Hi everyone,

I'd like to know, if it's possible to create an off-map nation with a placeholder name, with which all other nations can't interact per diplomacy or intelligence.
Practically, it would not be destined to be a country or similar power at all, I'd need it for something completely different.

And I need to know, if flags in events can be counted. What I mean is: Can you make an event fire by having, let's say, 3 of 5 flags and not just all of them set "true"?

Thanks for any insight given,
-The Chancellor.

1.No,though it could be accomplished with making AI ignore it and instruct the player (if you think of releasing something) to ignore it too.
BTW,for what do you need it?
2.IIRC,this could be achieved by using the OR and AND operators.

Both are options I'm thinking about to allow countries to vote for or against something.
Only, if a certain number of countries vote "yes", the event in question (a war, for example) should be fired.
That would make the use of AND and OR quite awkward. You'd have to check for all combinations above the number needed for the voting to be successful...

But one could use flags in a different way for this, now, that I think of it...
Let the countries voting event fire one after the other and not at once, with each positive vote setting a flag which is named after the number of votes as such...
Example:
First country votes "yes" -> set flag "onevote",
Second country votes "yes" -> if "onevote" is set, clear "onevote" and set "twovotes"
Third country votes "yes" -> if "onevote" is set, clear "onevote" and set "twovotes", if "twovotes" is set, clear "twovotes" and set "threevotes"

And so on...

Once the needed number of votes is reached, the other voting events wouldn't even fire anymore and the event, which is voted for, could fire instantly.

Do you think that could work? :)

The placeholder country is another idea for realising voting in HoI2. It would be used as a means of counting the votes by having the event voted for checking for it's belligerence. Since having a positive voting-event raise the belligerence of a country is fairly easy, belligerence would be almost perfectly suited for this, as it would also allow for different countries having different weights in the decision-finding. Once the voting would be finished, belligerence of the counter-country would be reset to 0, to be used for the next thing that needs voting. This way would be more flexible than using flags, since you could also allow votes for "nay" to lower the belligerence.

Concrete use for a voting mechanism in the game would be things like the EU and the UN Security Council in the Modern Day Scenario 2.

Regards,
-The Chancellor.

This would be even more awkward than using and/or statements.
The event for the first country would be easy.
For the second country you would need 2 events (1 if Country 1 said yes, one for no).
For country 3 you would need 3 events, one for 0 votes, one for 1 vote, one for 2 votes...

Can you see how this will grow rapidly?
