I just got CK: DV recently and have it patched up to 2.1 with DVIP. I started out as the Count of Sjaelland(now Duke).

Everytime I declare war on a small pagan country my liege does as well, as expected. But then I get my armies to beat the pagan's and then start sieging the province. Then before I know it the pagans offer me some horrible peace deal worth very little money. So I decline; only to have my liege accept that same stupid offer. So now I wasted all that money getting there with my troops and battling the pagans. And if I want to redeclare war(which works because the pagans have no more money to screw me over to my liege with) it will cost 100 prestige, which realy screws with the RP mood and well...my prestige lol.

So is there anyway around this? Or should I just keep doing this?

Thanks in advance :)

What you can do is first declare war on some far away pagan or muslima and then when your king is of to fight him, declare war on the pagan/muslim whose province you want.

Welcome to the sucky world of being a vassal :)

Since the liege has nothing to gain from your little war (except a more powerful vassal), he will settle for money.

To get around this, you need to be sneaksy little vassal. The easiest way to get land is to declare war on a bigger pagan. Then the king will see that there is land to be gained, and while he is battling over one province, you can take the other. This gives you more time to expand.

For one-province pagans, you need to be fast (and sneaksy). Make sure you have at least the first Siege tech, to speed up the siege. The sooner you can make peace, the better. Once the siege ends, then immediately pause the game, so you can make your peace terms without having to risk that your liege does it while you are fiddling around with it.

Lieges involved in wars elsewhere, seem less likely to accept the gold peace offer immediately. So you could try and declare war on some far away place, and while your king is off to defend your recklesness there, you can attack a nearby neighbour. The above still applies about speed.

If you think that is gamey, then you can wait until the king manages to get himself involved in some war, and then do your own thing while his back is turned.

This is not a sure-fire way that works every time ... sometimes you WILL experience these things ... and yes, it is very annoying.

Lastly, don't get greedy. Lets say thay you are attacking a 3-province pagan realm, and you quickly siege one province, while you king is still fighting pagan armies in another province ... so you think, hey, I might as well go for a second province .. there is time. I have experienced many times when I though I was about to score TWO provinces in the same way, when suddenly the king makes peace :( .... go for small quick wars and expand that way. Then once you are powerful enough on your own, you can declare indpendence and wage war as you see fit :)

Thank you for the speedy reply!

That sounds like a decent idea, especially if it's the only other way. Hopefully he still doesn't peace out on me still :eek:o
