It happened a few times already in my game. I never had such an event before Reaper's Due, but this one strikes me by its strangeness. It isn't really fun and seems to have no basis in the game mechanics.
So, there is a random guy in my court which is annoying my courtiers. I have the choice to lose 100 prestige or to denounce this random guy to my ally. If I do so, the ally might break the alliance!
This appears as a very weak reason to lose a valuable alliance. I understand that personnal animosities can lead to such an outcome, but then make it a malus in relationship, not a way to directly break the alliance. If the relationships become so sour that two kings cannot see each other in picture, then they could break the alliance as a result of repeated incendiary letters.
At least, this strange event allowed me to steal my aunt's kingdom. The very day she broke the alliance, I declared war on her, so it wasn't really a good idea for her to do so, as I would have been willing to keep the kingdom in a parallel branch of my dynasty before that madness.
