Dear Devs, Do consider making "Glub Glub - Fishbowl Portraits" part of the game, or at very least something akin to this! thank you very much.

Where is this preview screenshot? It doesn't seem to be any of the ones on Steam.Aquatics won't require wet planets as a default. One of the preview screenshots shows an Aquatic with an Alpine homeworld. But it does look like there will be Trait / Origin that will give them bonuses on Ocean worlds if they choose those.
"HI, SQUIDWARD!"I will create a squidward nation and teach the galaxy to play the clarinet
WOOHOO!!! Now I can finally play as Gremlins!

Don't forget the air for avians.Hmm, the entire concept of Aquatics brings into question Stellaris' planet class system, which is based around a planet being considered homogenous for habitability. It would be very strange to see Aquatics with Desert Preference, but then that super imbalances things towards the "wet" category if Aquatics just always have a preference in it. My hope would be that we're finally getting planets divided up into habitability type zones, so Earth would be composed of a tropical part, a temparate part (ideal for humans), a desert part, a savannah part, an arid part, a tundra part, an alpine part, an arctic part, and a few types of ocean parts.
I suspect instead we'll just get planets divided into land and sea, but that would at least be an improvement if no species had perfect habitability in both, meaning that finally, there'd be a reason to fill out certain planets (like Gaias, but also obviously Ocean, Continental, and Arctic at least) with multiple species to maximize them.

I don't see how that's Alpine. The fourth screenshot in Steam.
At the moment the wet category is by far the weakest because it's biased towards Agricultural Districts, and food is usually the weakest resource. Most players who favor efficiency choose a different planet preference for their species as a result. So a species-based buff to the Wet category would actually make the game more balanced.Hmm, the entire concept of Aquatics brings into question Stellaris' planet class system, which is based around a planet being considered homogenous for habitability. I don't think that's good for game balance as far as variety, it would basically mean wet has to stay worse to counteract the aquatics buff, and thus stay worse for non-aquatics. It's also not great for fun if aquatics are basically just species who have to have wet preference instead of something cooler like the ability to take up space on a Continental planet that the local terrestrial species can't....
