Ehhhh... not sure how I feel about this. While it looks neat, and the price is reasonable, it feels like it's going to open the floodgates of nickel-and-dime DLC, like the skin packs for EU4 that came separate from their namesake DLCs.

VIET has 830 events. If you include RICE the number is probably close to 1200. All. Free! And paradox is saying, “Over a hundred new events” as if it’s something to be impressed over. 100 events is the kind of thing I’d expect as a part of a free update. Heck, I’d even accept it as part of a larger DLC. But having a DLC dedicated just to this is honestly absurd.
I am a fan of VIET and RICE mods. They do add a lot of events to a game that dearly needs them.

This being said, I am sure the complexity and influence of the events Paradox will conjure will be of a much greater impact than a mod where direct events - not event pools - usually give or take 10-20 Prestige or 2-5 of Stress...

Keep doing AI work for free, and I'll bankroll the event coding gladly.

Also - this is exactly the thing CKII needed more of, and I hope additional little immersive events are included in larger future DLC, as well. I don't know if I'd buy it on its own without my desire to support the awesome free patch, but I am thrilled with the combination of the two.

Cat-apult! :D
Check steam page. I am very skeptical that it will be something more than "more of the same".

We paid $ 7 for new mechanics. We are now supposed to pay $ 5 for events... The costs have risen? Let's be serious...
The cost of creating already-released DLCs has also increased?

I have no problem paying for content. I have a problem with poor practices and overprcing. I want to support PDX, but I will not accept everything. Not everything can be excuses as "costs" and even PDX itself doesn't explain it that way.

"If you're aware of a different revenue stream, I'm all ears." - Again, you're suggesting something to me that I haven't written... I have already explained to you that paying for content is good, but I can't like every practice and I don't like the current trend. Of course, I do not buy these cost excuses because prices are not based on costs. They cannot be, since they were increased after release and because the old FP prices differ so little from the EP prices. I don't like "less/same content with higher price" trend.
Try to understand me. I have no problem with "the DLC price pay for a free patch as well", but I don't believe that's what we see here.

I have to admit, I'm pretty unsure what point you're trying to make here. I haven't mentioned - to justify or otherwise - the price rises to the immersion packs or the expansion packs.

All I've talked about is the principle that paid DLC funds free patches - a principle you say you agree with.

If we agree on that, you're going to need to be more specific about what exactly your issue is.

Well I was somewhat whiney about immersion few days ago, sooo...I think this pack is not an actually bad addition. Also new music.
Overall I think they will go in a good direction.
This new kind of pack probably explains the flavor pack price raise, something Im still not fond off, but we will see how future plays out.
Oh boy, can't wait for my Ruler's cat to be catapulted.
I am so immersed now.

CK2 had a damned horse you could elope with and make the pope.
1. You think I approve of that, but not the Cat-apult, but I don't, I find both unnecessary.
2. At least Glitterhoof events had the requirements of Lunatic to explain the 'wacky-ness'.
3. CK3 has a whole design issue with 'wacky-ness', this, the Cat-apult isn't a one-off, and you should absolutely know this as well. People here apparently dubbed it Monty Python

I don't think CK3 is significantly more meme-y or wacky than CK2.

For every fart joke or catapulted cat in CK3, there's a JFK assassination joke or a Star War reference or any number of similar things in CK2.

I've been playing an Ironman game of CK2 last week where I was going for the "What Schism?" achievement, so needless to say, I played it quite a bit in a while again, after coming off of 1k hours of CK3 and getting all the achievements.

Nothing in the world you say will convince me that there isn't a different event design direction, and that CK2 isn't less "wacky", because you are essentially asking me to "Not believe my lying eyes".

People seriously claiming that CK3 isn't more wacky when promotional image for new event dlc is some Orthodox bishop launching your cat with a catapult

Glitterhoof was an easter egg that people loved probably more than excepted, but then Paradox made the whole game around couple memes

I can't believe people have been arguing about a single event for several days now
Honestly, I don't believe that's the case, I mean, it is, but only on the surface.
When you dig slightly deeper, you see that we're just not that excited that this (to be honest) Reddit tier content is still being propagated.

(When I say "Reddit tier" I don't mean that in any sort of insulting way, I use it myself, I mean that it's the type of thing that will mostly end on Reddit for the upvotes, just like Glitterhoof was, and still is)

Also, to add, Glitterhoof was completely optional to an extent, and definitely didn't happen nearly as often as some of CK3's "funny" events do.

My point is, your "cost argument" doesn't work here because the price not depend on costs here. I showed you why.
Your "principle" (that paid DLC funds free patches) is good, butI will not accept any price because of that "principle". Price/content ratio changing for worse. The costs do not justify it. I don't like this and I don't want to support this. This is my point.

It's just increase in prices for content (look at my price comparisons). It's "less/same content with higher price" trend. I will not support this "because they have costs".

So if it were flipped and the new improvements to the AI, memory system, and other substantive parts of the free update cost $5, but the events added were free, you'd be fine? What's the practical difference?

I don't belive "it were flipped". FPs also had patches, but content/price ratio was better (FP+patch). It's just content/price ratio changing for worse. We will just get less (EP+patch) for almost the same price. FP price increase also isn't a "flipp". Just price raise. I see this as trend.

I'm afraid we'll get even less content for more money in the future. I don't want to support it. That's what I mean.
