Honestly? I'm a little disappointed. I wouldn't normally be disappointed that Paradox are releasing a new game, but this whole mystery 'reveal it but don't name it' thing kinda backfired on me. I was very much hoping for something like Crusader Kings 2, or a new era altogether (viking ages, perhaps).

I'll probably get it anyway, because it's Paradox, but I never really got into HoI that much (and haven't tried HoI 2).

We did WWII in high school three times. That and the Romans. Going by my education alone you would be convinced that those were the sole two periods of historical interest ever.

And it's not just as if it's historians who are obsessed with this period. Games, movies, books... I'm WW'd out. I came out of the bloody womb WW'd out. I did not fight in this war. My father did not fight in it. My grandfather did not fight in it.

...

Sorry. Hype backlash.

You're showcasing your alpha on the floor, right? I can't wait to hear reports on what this is like. I'm guessing from the province count that you're going for a hugely detailed simulation, even more so than HoI2. This is really going to push the limits of the EU3 engine and I'm loving it already.

my god 10,000 land provinces? does this mean we must fight for PARTS of major cities? this would mean NEW and AMAZING battles for such things like stalingrad and leningrad!!!

Disappointed a bit ... I really thought that HOI was the last title to need a follow-up ... but I guess you go where the money is.

Hopefully it will sell well (and I will buy it too ofcourse), so there is room for some follow-up to the smaller games like Vicky and CK.

World war 2 eh..

Im not sure what to think. In one way, this shows what i have known for a long time, that Paradox are all about the money nowadays. Its been a long time since they made something innovating. Its all about the cookiecutter that will make them richer. Their new expansion policy clearly shows that.

In another way, i thought that the industry kinda agreed that ww2 was overdone a long time ago. Even real time shooters have moved on to other wars havent they.

Seriously, how many times can you invade russia trough same old Poland, or invade mainland China before you get tired of it?

I really cant make myself getting excited over "more provinces" or "better tech tree" as i see some of you do. Its overdone, you have 2 versions of the game plus an expansion. You should think that would be more than enough.

Ohwell. Yet another Paradox game i wont buy.

HoI is not just another WW2 game. Most WW2 games are crap, or action games. HoI is unique..... Name other WW2 strategy games so complex and historical? I can't name one single one.

Well not much new news and it is in Norwegian, but it does have one of the pieces of art work our artists created for HoI3.
