Aftermath of How Few Remain - If CSA does not own Cuba, trigger Spanish-Confederate War like the Spanish American war in our timeline

If you're talking about the 1880 scenario, the CS will own Cuba from the start.

I'd like to throw my hat in too, if you need a playtester.

I meant going from the 1863 scenario with the CSA, and for one reason or another they don't buy Cuba (Not enough money, or the CSA just didn't want it at the time.)

Then a Spanish-Confederate War would happen along the lines of OTL Spanish-American war. The CSA mod already there for Victoria, made by.... RE Lee, I think, or was it Confederate Badass? Anyway, it had an event chain for a Spanish-Confederate War, so I was thinking something like that. I'm just a bigger fan of having the books as a setting or backdrop, rather than the only path to play.

Yo.:)

The Hispano-Confederate War event is actually in vanilla. I just tricked it out a bit in SR with some stuff from VIP.

I agree, although there is a balance that needs to be struck given that the mod is supposed to be following the books.

Adding in a small chance that Spain doesnt sell Cuba then goes onto the CS-Spanish war is reasonable, yet not having Cuba's resources would make the CSA's job even harder in any war against the US...see some of the problems I have to deal with!

Is Cuba that valuable? I wouldn't think it's that vital to any Confederate war effort, given the lack of state culture and low manpower. Or is the trade for tobacco really worth that much?
I could be wrong, though. Haven't messed with Victoria as much as I have HoI2.

Nevermind on it if you think it's too much work. I just remembered the event chain for the Spanish-Confederate war apparently in Vanilla and figured it would at least be something fun to add, with a little event borrowing.

For something that definitely SHOULD be in the game, have a Lincoln speech circuit starting sometime in the 1863 scenario, converting a small % of POPs to socialists, and after the Second Mexican War, or the How Few Remain scenario, have the % grow much higher.

Already done on the speech front. And I will most likely add the spain-CS events in somehow anyway.

With regard to Cuba directly, Im taking a different track on that, which does make it pretty useful but I'll save the surprises/issues for that till release...

Is there some method we can use to establish ports in the great lakes? Both series consist of bombardments around there, whether from the Canadians or Americans.

Being that Im super-awesome, :D I had thought about this too. I dont actually see why not assuming that port placements can be added easily.

Id like to do this, however this will come under the 'would be nice' category rather than the 'must haves'

If you or anyone knows of any modders who have tinkered with this already, please shout out.

I do recall on mod for HoI2, I think Total Realism, used adjacencies to give London a port from the North Sea through Kent, or whatever HoI called that province.
Maybe it can be done like that, only instead of leading to a port, the St. Lawrence channel can lead to a Great Lakes seazone or seazones adjacent to one another.
Not sure if it works the same in Vicky. There was a file called Adj-defs in the HoI2 map folder, but I don't see one like that in Vicky. But it might be something to look into.

^I think I would be correct in saying that most ship on the lakes were built on the lakes, access being restricted to small vessels via canals and such.

Assuming ports could be added, it would probably be my luck that the AI would deploy the whole fleet to landlocked lakes! ...which inturn would perhaps mean an 'unrealistic' connection to the seas...oh my head hurts...

Would the US have really gone fascist? I would think it more likely for them to go in a Communist direction, with the Socialist Party becoming more radicalized or splitting between those who wish to compromise with the American capitalist system (such as Mrs. Hamburger) and those who wish to overthrow it to create a truly Marxist state. Would make for an interesting divergence, eh?

What's the name for a defeated US fascist party, the Liberty party or have you already gotten a good idea?

Fascist is much more likely. In our actual time line the United States was host to a great many fascist incidents and movements in the early twentieth century.

I like the idea of having the defeated North go hardline Communist, though. It works a a counterpoint to having the defeated South go Fascist.

Well, the implication in the books is a Germany/USSR analogy in the WW2 era. Although for once Mr T was wise enough to limit just how far socialist the USA goes- without going beyond suspension of disbelief and having the USA go hadline commie.

In terms of game mechanics it does seem very hard to get extreme parties in power unless you are doing badly (this is historically accurate for the most part) yet it can make for a tad more run of the mil game, sadly. Worst thing with the USA is you can do almost anything wrong and still come out top 3 thanks to industry & miltary score.

Why dont you put in a hardline commy US? There can be a "proletaint revolution" with hardline socalist rebelling, course with help from (possibly) commy blacks from CSA.
