The Kingdom of Italy is proving to be a danger to the HRE. They need to be beaten back before the HRE so we can focus on reclaiming territory in the New World.

May General Andrew Von Hessen's efforts be remembered, and his sacrifice be honored.

Now would absolutely be the time for Russia to jump on the bandwagon and take some more Byzantine land.

Bit disappointed that Russia didn't get to play the savior of Europe like it did in our timeline. Still, nice to see a staunch member of the old order learning and countering Napoleon's tactics. Too many AARs treat the anti-Revolutionaries as if they couldn't or wouldn't adapt at all, even on the battlefield.

Now would absolutely be the time for Russia to jump on the bandwagon and take some more Byzantine land.

Oh we'll be finding out whats actually going on in Russia in this update.

The Kingdom of Italy is proving to be a danger to the HRE. They need to be beaten back before the HRE so we can focus on reclaiming territory in the New World.

Figures if the Corse wouldn't have meddled even in this alternate timeline.

Albeit I am happy to read about stronk Italy once in a while.

Indeed it is, Italy using the converter's Pop converter actually becomes basically the China of the world in pop essentially due to how much development the Italian minors did before the HRE unified itself. So this Italy can hit far above the weight of OTL Italy, with Napoleon at the helm no less. It's quite dangerous. it's only disadvantage is that unlike france, It's fighting a longstanding Coalition of the #1 and #2 powers in the world from the start.

So are you going to take all the land that the Italians have gained, or just the Italian peninsula itself?

Since the Holy League (HRE, Celtics and Westphalia) are the counterrevolutionaries here, they are fighting for a Status Quo, Italy and occitania returned to the HRE, Catalonia returned to spain and Aquitaine returned to France. Though that's not to say the HRE wont take a chance to end that republic of Africa if it has a chance.)

I am really curious how the final situation in 1836 will be and how much the world was mod... Hehm, developed since EU4 end game.

Should be.. fairly close to how the EU4 map looked, but with some border cleaning, and of course the African Republic put down among other minor changes.

An Imperial Russian Christmas
lVwX3RH.png

The Russian Empire had spent much of the revolution neutral. Originally this was a measure to keep the Byzantine empire out, though other issues quickly aroused. Czar Nikolai III died childless in the Spring of 1826, sending Panic throughout the Empire's administration. To run the country until an heir could be decided on a Provision council of Nobles had begun to rule from Kiev, with each faction in Russian politics at the time making proposals for the future of the country.

enhanced-21703-1424381379-24.jpg

(Vasiliy Rurikovich serving as Regent Councillor of Russia)
The Russian Liberals had since formed into a Coalition of Radical's inspired by Napoleon and the Successes of the Italian revolution as well as regular suffragists were led by Veteran Statesman Vasiliy Rurikovich a renowned Russian Intellectual and Politician with connections to a Swedish-Russian noble house in Novgorod. Vasiliy presented arguments for a Constitutional monarchy for Russia, composed of a Duma, Senate and Monarch splitting power equally between the three with the courts acting as an entity under the power of the Monarch.

The Liberals however were a minority in the predominantly conservative and reactionary provisional council. With some members advocating civil war to advance their aims towards a more liberal government Vasiliy found difficulty finding any credibility for his ideas. He would be forced to wait until a monarch was finally chosen while also silencing the more Radical elements of his party.

Stroganov_PA.jpeg

(Alexander Anniona, Prince of Bohemia)

The Council had several choices before them for a Monarch. The closest relative to the old House of Kiev was Alexander Anniona, Emperor Franz-Joseph of Austria's nephew, a Boy of 16 years currently being fostered in Prague and studying Napoleon's revolution. The Council feared that Alexander however was too young and could be easily manipulated by his relatives in Russia, France and Byzantium, though his name was kept in the Running as by law he would be the heir if no other suitable candidate could be found.

MTIwOTM3MDkxNTgzNTA1NDM4.jpg

(Princess Victoria of Westphalia)
Even younger than Prince Alexander was Princess Victoria von Hannover, the only surviving daughter of King Heinrich of Westphalia and his wife Catherine of Kiev. Princess Victoria drew a claim to the Russian throne through her grandfather, which made her viable for succession. While in a different time Victoria would not be considered, Russian succession law was absolute Cognatic, meaning the only potential barrier to Victoria's ascension was her age. Though some in the Russian council saw this as an advantage as a young Czarina would be easier to influence. Victoria's lineage also meant that the claws of House Anniona would be far from Victoria and thus Russia at least until she married.

440px-Henry_Dearborn_by_Gilbert_Stuart.jpeg

(Field Marshall Peter Kiyev shortly before his retirement)

The Last Candidate was Emperor Nikolai's oldest living Relative, Peter. Peter of Kiev was in short, a country cousin, born of lowborn parents with slim relation to the old monarchy. Peter was a military man however, with a long and decorated career against the Byzantines, Mongols and Danish until his retirement in 1822. Peter now lived on a farm outside Moscow with his family of three children and common born wife. The Council would have elected Peter almost immediately but his lowborn lineage had caused them pause. Passing up Prince Alexander in exchange for the lowborn Peter would likely sour relations with the Austrians, and while the Austrians could not afford to make Enemies of Russia, Russia could not afford to make enemies of the Romans either. The Liberals, also were fully aware what a Czar like Peter would bring, a Reactionary and hard rule down upon Russia, a rule they had been trying to avoid.
540px-Kolman_decembrists.jpg

As things often happened in Imperial Russia the Regency Council had failed to reach an agreement. After nearly a year The Russian Reactionary party, which had formed as a result of Vasiliy Rurikovich influence gathered some loyal members of the army and stormed Kiev in what was known as the Decembrist revolt(Despite starting in early september), an attempt to capture and execute the liberals. Though successful in seizing the capital the Decembrists had failed to capture Vasiliy Rurikovich who fled north to St Petersburg. Due to Vasily's success in keeping the radical elements of the Liberal party trimmed he successfully petitioned the Kingdom of Sweden and Westphalia for aid against what he named revolutionaries. The Swedish of course were more than willing to help, with concessions, concessions Vasily was more than willing to give. The Westphalians who were busy aiding the Austrians against the Byzantines and Italians could not afford to send nearly as many men, but still assisted, so long as the Russian Monarch would be Princess Victoria.

Napoleons-Retreat-640x480.jpg

(Westphalian 3rd Infantry Brigade Marching to Moscow to meet up with Russo-Swedish Soldiers)
A Year later Russo-Swedish forces would retake Kiev in the name of Czarina Victoria in a surprisingly bloodless battle. The Reactionaries while they could have started a civil war failed to due so when their favored Claimant, Peter, flatly denied the crown when offered, stating "How petty you must be to wish your own Mother Russia to bleed to satisfy your pride". Unable to use Peter the decembrists were unable to successfully find a claimant and thus gain the support of the rest of the military or country.

Utterly defeated the Decemberists surrendered to the combined Russo-Swedish forces on Christmas Day December 25th 1827. Russia was whole, one and indivisible yet again.

Great job.

Just as a suggestion, you should spell the Russian word for Emperor "Tsar," instead of "Czar." I am not mad, it is just standard to transliterate the Cyrillic letter "ц" as "ts".

The Empire Strikes Back
Coldrum.jpg

With Napoleon stopped at Ragusa the Holy Alliance enacted what General Friedrich Walther called the Hercules Plan. Likely due to the common use of the phrase "Hydra of Liberalism". The Plan called for complete destruction and dismantlement of Napoleon's gains combined with a blockade and invasion of southern italy. Napoleon, whom had retreated back to Italy to fortify the alps over the winter began to take actions to prevent Austrian invasions southern italy. The south italians had for a long time been loyal monarchists to the King of sicily and thus the Holy Roman Empire through the King. With the King executed by revolutionaries in Firenze bands of resistance had begun to form in Calabria, Naples and Benevento, opposed to the Italian revolution and by virtue of pragmatism friendly with Holy Roman incursions in the south.

Screen-Shot-2014-12-05-at-11.48.24-AM.png
(The Slaughter of Burgos, Depicting French soldiers shooting Basque Civilians suspected of treason)

Napoleon's experience in dealing with resistance groups had been with the Greeks, a hostile population to start with during his Imperial campaigns, crushing the Italian resistance would be slow, and arduous, meanwhile the Spanish had problems all their own as the Pretender Fernando VI, son of queen Isabel III and one of the last surviving members of house Anniona-Navarra raise a large army of militia in the Pyrenees, Backed by the French, the fight to liberate Iberia from the Italians had begun, a fight that would be long and bloody.

BattleofMaida.jpg

Back in Sicily, the 1st Army of the Orient had finally arrived from Japan and once Winter had ended, invaded southern Italy through resistance held ports near naples. Napoleon while he had been successful in previous campaigns had found his forces stretched further and further as the Walther pressed on Venezia. Something enabled only by the entry of Russia into the war. Russia under Prime Minister, Vasily Rurikovich had finally honored thier assurances that the entry of the Byzantine Empire would draw a Russian response. Russian cavalry quickly overran the Byzantine steppe in the Spring of 1827 and the greeks were forced to make a hard choice, fight through Austrian lines in a mad dash to save Crimea, or risk an encounter with the Holy Roman Navy and attempt to cross back over Anatolia.

Luny_Thomas_Battle_Of_The_Nile_August_1st_1798_At_10pm.jpg

(Sinking of the Byzantine Fleet at Adrianople)
The Greeks chose the later option but instead of the Austrian fleet lying in wait, it was French Privateers whom had been flying under Merchant colors until such an opportunity presented itself. With the Greeks stalled, Imperial Reinforcements arrived and finally shattered the remains of the Byzantine Navy, thus severing the Empire in two, allowing Kaiser Franz-Joseph to demand peace or suffer occupation and potentially the loss of greece. The Greeks agreed to Franz-Joseph's terms which were disarmament of the Imperial Borderlines, small land changes in Russia and the permanent opening Byzantine ports to Austrian and French traders.

Napoleon, though he had made next to no errors of his own in the war, had failed to overcome the sheer Numbers of the Austria led coalition. Unable to take away Austrian Naval superiority Italy was finally beginning to choke under blockade. Meanwhile Napoleon's generals were losing battle after battle in France and Spain, and while the Italian line was being held, Austrian General Gunther von Edo had managed to successfully establish a foothold in the heel of italy, and was advancing further north by the day.

bitwa-pod-lipskiem.jpg
(Battle of Venezia Fall 1927)

A Year later, Napoleon had finally been pushed out of Venezia, and the forces of the Holy League organized themselves outside of Firenze where Napoleon had planned one final last stand. The Revolution had finally ended. Napoleon's inability to keep Russia neutral ultimately being his undoing, as the Holy League had once again proven to be a near unbeatable hegemony. Though without his revolution the independence of Austrian South America, the new Constitutional Monarchy of Russia and the various liberal movements of the future would have not been possible. When Napoleon finally did surrender Firenze after nearly a month of continued bombardment he did so with dignity and was allowed to live out the rest of his days in Exile on Okinawa, far from his native Italy. Though not before officially signing the Treaty of Zurich, the new document upon which the final borders of Europe would be redrawn.
Bouchot_-_Napol%C3%A9on_signe_son_abdication_%C3%A0_Fontainebleau_4_avril_1814.jpg

(Napoleon signing the Treaty of Zurich, Emperor Franz Joseph stands opposite)

The Treaty of Zurich of 1828 was intended to bring a final peace to Europe. Napoleon's Italy as well as the Republic of Africa were both erased from the map. Meanwhile the Kingdom of Sweden was to be ceded territory in Estonia from the new Russian Administration. The French have redrawn the Borders of Iberia, allowing a weakened spain to reclaim most of its former territory, at the cost of ceding any african holdings. Further terms were set out for a European council of great powers to be housed temporarily in London, until more formal arrangements could be made in Vienna, Thus allowing the Powers that be in Europe to organize and work out conflicts through diplomacy rather than immediately resorting to Warfare. With all Great powers in agreement the treaty was signed and the last flame of the revolution had officially died out.

Eight years later Europe retains the Borders drawn at Zurich, marking nearly a decade of success of the Holy League. Now the Empire must look forward, The Lands of India and China fill with the smell of burning coal and hammered steel, Boats of Immigrants, fleeing oppression in Europe have begun to arrive in America, where the drums of war beat still. The Holy Roman Empire must now enter a new age.

A good end for Napoleon. Not the ending he wanted, but better than what he got in our timeline.

The Holy Roman Empire is looking as powerful as ever. Nice to see nearly a decade of peace for Europe. But, that cannot last... Seeing as you say a new era will soon begin, could we get a look at the state of the rest of the world first?

A nice end for Napoleon. I think that the French should have gotten Occitania as a reward for their help, but I suppose they do essentially get Spain in their sphere, so that makes up for it.

The State of the World 1836
Part 1: Europe

C44mCyU.jpg
Its time to get the Third (and Possbibly Final) part of the AAR started. We'll have having a look at the state of the world in the next 4 Updates, Part 1 Being Europe - The HRE, Part 2 Being America, Part 3 Asia/Afrika and Part 4 being The Holy Roman Empire and her colonial holdings.

Europe itself is dominated by the Holy League, an Alliance of the Celtic, Holy Roman and Russian Empires that has been relatively intact since the 1400's. Thought to be nigh invincible until napoleon had fought the combined Franco-Imperial forces to a standstill at Milan and Venezia and kicked off the Napoleonic Wars. Eventually Defeated Napoleon had forced the the French and Russians in the following eight years have been growing tired and strained under the Holy Roman Enforced peace.

pm21R6r.png

Starting with Scandinvia we have the Rump state of Norway (Iceland) Who still has cores on the whole of their De Jure territory from Ck2. There is also the Kingdom of Sweden, the Rising star of the north as it were and the Kingdom of Denmark, the so called Sick man of Europe. The Danish Republic conquered large amounts of Scandinavia during the past but have since been unable to form Scandinavia and bring the Swedish and Norwegians to heel. Now overthrown by dictator-turned Monarch turned Constitutional Monarch the unrest in Denmark has never been higher, paving the way for Sweden to perhaps unite Scandinavia, or the Saxons of Norway to finally return.

S9mnpMv.jpg

The Lands in Grey are inhabited Primarily by Saxons, yes Saxons. In the Medieval Era the Saxons of northern Germany fled to Scandinavia from the franks, and eventually settled in Finland and Norway, wiping out the native Norwegians and finish of these regions. The land was eventually lost to the Danish but the saxons were never run out of these Areas. The Purple are Danlanders, A Saxon-Nordic-Germanic Hybrid Race born out of the Medieval republic of Sealand. The Blue of course is Swedish, which is the Majority culture in Scandinavia and White is Finnish. Sweden of course is a minor power and likely will be pushing hard to reclaim its cores (Which it has on the entire Scandinavian peninsula) Likely to start a Crisis in the ailing Danlander Kingdom.

The Celtic Empire, One of the Eight Great Powers of the world, Founded by the United crowns of Albion (England) Britanny, Scotland, France, Wales and Ireland. A Force to be Reckoned with the Bretons were the favored Kingdom of the west during the Roman Reconquests of the region and served as faithful vassals until the Empire had begun to collapse. The Bretons were the ones who emerged as the Triumphant French Successor State, claiming the Crown of France and Putting down the Scottish to anoint themselves the only True Celtic state left in the world. The Celtic Union is an absolute Monarchy currently ruled over by King-Emperor Arthur III.

GSbljCw.png

The Celts Control the Entirety of Britain and Northern France, as well as splitting southern France with the HRE. They also control the Rhine River, a major source of conflict between the Celtic and German States. The Bretons are currently have attempted to wrestle the remainder of the Lowlands away from the Duchy of Flanders, a Primarily Wallonian state with claims on the entirety of their surroundings, including the Duchy of Normandy. Should the Walloons fall out of Favor with the Celtic government or an ambitious power be looking to weaken the Celtic Empire, the Flemish are an Ideal method of doing so.

Fu23jOX.png

As Seen Breton and French cultures have Mixed into a singular French Culture which spreads over most of England, France and large parts of Alsace Lorraine. The Welsh, and Scottish and Anglo-Saxons are troublesome Minorities in the North. The Walloons and Occitans make up significant accepted Populations of the Celtic Government.

0rZPWZw.png

Next up is the Reborn Kingdoms of Spain. The Basque Kingdom of Spain is the dominant power on the Peninsula. Originally the most successful out of the Umayyad Successor States the Spanish have suffered without a colonial Empire such as those the Portuguese and Cordobans possess. The Spanish have been limited to Meager holdings overseas in America and have otherwise restricted to Europe, where they have fallen from great power status to become a plaything for the Celts since its liberation from Napoleon, who now use the Spanish as a way to threaten the Cordobans and Portuguese.
0b7j7x0.png

The powers that be in Spain are the Kingdom of Portugal, currently ruled by Umayyad, The Kingdom of Cordoba and the Basque Union of Spain. Of the three Spain has remained the dominant Military power, Portugal the dominant Naval power and Cordoba the dominant colonial power. Cordoba of the three is the only state to retain a significant colonial empire, as the Cordobans control a large percentage of China. Though at the cost of their african colonies, making holding the valuable colony of Cathay an expensive and possibly impossible task. The portuguese are even weaker than they are in OTL with only minor colonial Islands scattered throughout the world.
o9Fqpj9.png

The Cultures of Spain are the strangest things about it. The Catalan and Basques make up the Majority of Central and Northern Spain respectively, with neither having too much influence in the Spanish government to offset the other. The Visigoths under Spanish rule also welcome it wholesale, as do the Castilians who have been slowly dying out in the spanish Interior. The Andalusians of Portugal however stand independent of the Spanish and have retained much of their proud culture and traditions for hundreds of years, a unitary block, compared to Multicultural spain. The Cordobans however are a mess, with Visigothic being the primary and only accepted culture within the Kingdom. The Various berber, german and Andalusian minorities straining under their rule, and of course the Chinese abroad which are not far from open revolt against their colonial overlords, should the opportunity present itself.
2208115.gif

Next we will meet Russia, The mighty Empire of the West. Russia was originally ruled by House Bejovic, an Ancient and powerful Dynasty that now only survives in Saxon controlled Norway. House Bejovic united all the Slavic lands, from Poland and Pomerania to Rus, Perm and Ruthenia under a single unitary banner, before breaking up via succession law into the Kingdoms of Ruthenia, Poland, Lithuania and Pommerania. Pomerania and Poland eventually died out, Lithuania lost large amounts of land to the ambitious danish and the final, Ruthenia struggled for nearly a hundred years under a personal union with Germany. Finally winning Independence with Austrian Aid, Ruthenia joined the Holy League as a permanent member and would later received Austria's blessing in declaring themselves the Eastern Roman Empire, a Rightful Catholic successor state to the actual Orthodox Eastern Roman Empire to the south.

WHsexJ2.jpg

Russia since has been playing a dangerous game for power in the East, having fought against and with the Holy Romans on multiple occasions. During the Napoleonic Wars, Russia was for the most part Neutral until the interregnum and following decembrist revolt led to the Liberals led by Vasily Rurikovich seizing power and crowning the Westphalian, Princess Victoria as the rightful Czarina of Russia. With Victoria still in a regency under vasily Rurikovich, Russia has liberalized, forming a proper Duma, and changing their flag from the Eagle Standard of old to a Liberal Tricolor of Black, Gold and White, one that would later Inspire flags for other countries.
f9Fuj8e.jpg

The Russian Empire is primarily Russian, with small greek, tatar, mongol and European minorities in the border regions. The Kingdom of Lithuania is the only threat to Russia's Eastern block, having rightful claims to almost all the Dejure territory of Lithuania and thus Russia's Baltic Coastline. The Swedes of course now control the Duchy of Estonia, which had led some to believe Russia should finally move it's provision capital away from St Petersburg, and back to Kiev, or to a safer Location in Moscow.

latest

The other Empire of the East if the Powerful and Ancient Byzantine Empire. Byzantium has had a long and storied history, with one common trait. The Byzantines are Survivors, through as through. The Byzantines have held onto their crown for nearly fifteen hundred years (whereas the Austrians can only claim to have held the crown fo Western Rome for around 900). With the Loss of Anatolia and the levant to the Muslim hordes during the medieval ages, things looked grim, but Byzantine ingenuity prevailed and the Empire expanded instead north into the empty steppeland and built a powerful economic and military backbone, safe from the Muslims via the mountains of Georgia. When Holy Roman Crusades finally broke the back of Eastern Islam the Byzantines finally had the peace they required to repair, and rebuild. Though it would not last.

The Powerful Muhammad Caliphate never stayed defeated for long and stopped any and all attempts of Byzantine reconquest of Anatolia, until such a time when the Holy Roman Empire returned and forcibly removed the Heathen, allowing the Greeks to strike at and seize Georgia and Armenia. In the centuries following the Muhammad Caliphate continued to weaken allowing the greeks to reclaim the remainder of Anatolia, run out the Knight's Hospitaller and Crusader Kingdoms of Jerusalem and finally conquer Mesopotamia and reclaim Egypt for the might of the Basileus.

Byzantium had originally adopted an elected monarchy in the Medieval ages, which quickly resulted in the old line of Emperors to die out, as the Themes of Byzantium quickly became more and more prominent in elections. The Empire had fallen into the grips of a Military Junta, that while effective at defeating the Muslims was no true successor of rome. This Changed when House Anniona-Bretagne seized the throne via a fluke election and reformed the government into the first ever Parliamentary Monarchy in Europe as a means to maintain the Throne. The Byzantine Model would later be the model upon which all future republican systems would be based, with a three branch system of the Executive (Usually the Monarch) Legislative (Elected officials) and Judiciary Branch (Appointed by either Executive or Legislative depending on country)

tSBI7RM.jpg

The Greeks, like the Austrians and Russians are extremely powerful. Byzantium has almost complete control of the Black Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean challenged only by Austria's large naval advantage. The Muhamadiid Caliphate of the East has been all but destroyed, the remains of which have reorganized in Afghanistan. The Greeks now control an Empire as large and powerful as Alexander's of old, though it is not complete as the Indian Raj of Kosala has spread his hands over the middle east and Persia and threatened Byzantine Hemogeny of the region. Though the Catholic powers of Europe insist otherwise, the Greeks have proven themselves as the true Heirs to the Eastern Roman Crown. To Call the Byzantime Empire Byzantine would be false, as it is the true, Eastern Roman Empire.

xBQajcM.png

However, the signs of the old days still show, whenever one looks at the demographics of the new Empire. The Greek empire is not in fact predominantly greek. The the Muslim unification of much of the Middle east has left marked, ingrained in the very people of Anatolia and the levant. Bedouin populations make up nearly 40% of the Byzantine Empire's population, and with the recent reunification of the Middle east under the Greek crown, the Greeks fear they will be eclipsed by the rising Bedouin, Egyptian Crusader populations much as they did to the romans, centuries before.

Tune in next time, were we will find out What those Crazy Templars and Revolutionaries have been up too.

Spain is the Celtic Empire's toy, Russia has an ever-changing loyalty to the HRE, and the Eastern Roman Empire is barely Greek. Europe alone has a fascinating setup, so many powerful nations all vying for domination.

I have a feeling that the democratic Byzantines will be the good guys here. And I have a feeling that the good guys are going to lose.

The State of the World 1836
Part 2: America

balconisedeuroamemp.png

Time to Check up on those Radical Colonials, Anglo Saxons and Knight's Templar. America is mostly comrpised of Colonial Successor states, with only two nations with any actual colonies still on the American Mainland. Spain controls a large chunk of Central America and Austria controls the Western half of North America which has been far less unruly than the South American colonies of old.

vruFRgk.jpg

Starting in the Cold, Hard North we have the Kingdom of Canada. Canada was originally founded by Saxons based out of Norway who arrived in Nova Scotia in the 1600's. The Norwegians however lost control of the colony only a century later and the small Colony of Canada became the first ever Colonial Nation to win it's independence from its overlord. Crowing a New King the Canadians have expanded over the entire northern third of North America, only the coldest regions being exempt from settlement, for now. Canada is a Parliamentary Monarchy following the New Anglian System of a Monarch, and Parliament.

South of Canada is the Free Kingdom of Quebec, a Free'd Celtic Colony based along the St Lawrence River. Quebec is a major source of tension for the American states as it is one of the weaker countries on the continent and yet lies between three strong Rivals, Canada, The Knight's Transient and New Anglia. Quebecois Independence was guaranteed by Austria, though this was done mainly to defend again any sort of Celtic Recolonization.

bA6Elaq.png

Moving towards the rest of the Continent we have even more nations, Namely the United States of America (USA), Kingdom of Louisiana, New Anglia and of course, The Knight's Transient.

Louisiana is the weakest of the American states, weaker than even Quebec. Founded Originally by the Cordobans in the 1700's the Louisianans joined the Haitians and Mexicans in revolt against their oppressive overlord. When the flames finally died down and Louisianan independence was made official, the Kingdom adopted a constitutional Monarchy under Louis Valois. The Valois dynasty has controlled Louisiana since, watching over the empty undeveloped great plains and Dakota badlands.

The United States of America, or simply the USA were a Flemish colony founded late in colonial era, similar to Spanish New Spain in central America. the Americans however found Independence an easy task with New Anglia and the Knight's Transient unwilling to abide a colonial power so close to their borders. The USA is a democracy, one of the only of its kind, a Republic based on the Byzantine Model with a president elected four four year terms in place of a Monarch. Though Small the USA had a distinct advantage in that it has a very liberal immigration policy, should they manage to make the Swamplands of Florida and Georgia livable.

knights-templar-flag.jpg

Then there is of course, the Knight's Transient. The One everyone has come to see. The Knight's Transient was founded by Knight's Templar who rather than stay and die during the black death, Fled west, to America in reverse Engineered Aztec ships. When they arrived in America they did not find heathen empires ripe for conquest, but mostly empty space, and peaceful natives willing to abide their presence, and benefit from Templar Medical and Military Expertise.

The Knight's Templar agreed, and settled a small colony named New Jerusalem in connecticut, later also founding settlements of Boston and New York. Within a Generation the Knights struck at Iroquois, who had quickly grown to Rival the Knights in Power. With success against the Iroquois and Under strict military rule the Knights managed to maintain order and slowly spread over the entire eastern Seaboard of America, assimilating various native peoples and cultures along the way. The Result was the formation of two Templar-Native American Hybrid cultures, commonly referred to as Yankee and Metis. When discovered by Europeans, many ambitious and zealous recruits flooded the Knight's Transient, further fueling them on the path to become a major power in america.

The Knight's are still a Monostatic order, naming a new Grandmaster that serves until death often chosen by the former Grandmaster. To have any position in the Knight's Transient is to be a member of the Military, and be a successful member of the Military at that. Imperial Councillor Jacob Wagner would remark in the future "The Knights are an Army with a Country" a remarkably true statement considering the way the Transient run have run their empire. A strong Military tradition has made the Knights a force to be reckoned with in America, but their absolutist ways have deterred many potential immigrants who would sooner go to Quebec, Canada or the USA, that is of course if the Knight's Transient doesn't conquer them first. Deus Vult!

rP0AAo8.png

Last but not least is the Titan that is New Anglia. New Anglia was founded by Irish, Anglo-Saxon and Breton slaves taken across the Atlantic by the Aztecs. The Aztecs who quickly became sick were unable to stop their captives from rising up, seizing their ships and running them aground in Cuba. Since those fateful days the New Anglians have expanded dramatically, uniting their new Home Island with diplomacy and later colonizing up the Mississippi river eventually reaching the great lakes. New Anglia is a Parliamentary Monarchy, not too unlike OTL Britain at this time and unlike the Knight's Transient has actually assimilated many of the Natives throughout its territory or otherwise exterminated them to make way for Anglo-Saxon settlers. Despite a more liberal government form Slavery is still legal in New Anglia and has been a major issue being debated in the Parliament for decades now.

New Anglia is currently the top dog in America, having beaten the Knight's transient once at the turn of the century for much of their western Land. The Knights of course will not be content to allow New Anglia to have the last laugh and have already begun motions to strengthen themselves further, to bring terrible revenge on their Rivals to the west.

lRhqqCo.png

Next up is Mexico, both versions of it. Mexico Proper was a Portuguese colony build around exploiting the gold and wealth from the collapsed aztec empire. Mexico eventually would gain her independence along with Columbia in the first of two Colonial wars against Portugal. The New state quickly found a local noble and crowned him Monarch liked due to Austrian interests in keeping the number of proper republics in america to a minimum.

Mexico is the third of the power players in America and is the weakest of the three, with neither the size and Wealth of New Anglia or the military of the Knight's Transient, Mexico sits somewhere in the middle, though enjoys an advantageous position with Cordoban Mexico, a more radical and unstable border state of the Cordobans that the Mexican Parliament has seen it best to attempt to annex for the good of the country.

BFoabIG.jpg

Seen here is the culture map, note how messy it is compared to Europe. Grey is obviously German, North German in Canada, South German in the Western half of America. Orange is Anglo Saxon, Bluish Gray is Yankee and Dark-Bluish-Purple are native American cultures. Regular blue is Metis and light blue is French-Canadian. Yellow is Visigothic with the Light Bluish and Tan colors near it being local Navajo and Apache. Lavender is Cherokee, Dark Green is Andalusian.

As you can see, The natives have had a much luckier time surviving this time around at least in north America where they have assimilated into many new governments rather than being simply wiped out. Though it also means that Natives such as the Knight's Transient and New Anglia have claims on most of their surrounding lands via their native populations.

s8SvrMy.png

In Mexico we have more defined cultural borders, though large african populations still exist in Mexico and much of the Caribbean, slaves or otherwise.

sd3XjXI.png

Moving swiftly onwards we have the Northern Third of South America, with two more democracies, Haiti and Columbia respectively. Both are rather weak but of course are also much more liberal than their powerful neighbor, the newly free'd Kingdom of Venezuela who is now looking Upon Columbia with hungry eyes for expansion.

D6LE5Mi.png

In Central South America we have the Former Portuguese Colony of Brazil and the Kingdom of Peru. Brazil is of course unique in that it eventually grew more powerful than its mother country of Portugal and broke free, only to establish friendly relations with the mother country less than a decade later.

Peru on the other time is experiencing a different type of Nostalgia entirely, while free of Austria Peru was founded on the Premise of House Anniona being the true Heirs to the Incan Empire and as such have crowned an Anniona their king, despite being a major player in the downfall of the Holy Roman Empire's colonial empire in south america.

6QZt8N7.png

The Final Third Brings us to Argentina and Paraguay, the Strongest and Weakest of the Austria's colonial children respectively.

Argentina is a force to be reckoned with in South America, led by the powerful Fuller-Medici Bankers and Colonists turned Monarchs. Argentina has since had a falling out with the old Colonial Alliance, sparking an entire collapse of diplomatic relations across America resulting in each claiming the others territory as the one, rightful successor state in America. Argentina of course is the most capable of doing so but also is Isolated on the southern part of the continent.

0026nCG.jpg

The culture in south america is a far contrast to that of the north, Almost all of Austria's former colonies have successfully run out or assimilated native cultures, save the Amazons who still hide in their rainforest in the Interior of the continent. The Andalusians have also been successful but house large native and slave minorities still.

QLl1dks.png

The Remaining half of south america is even more unitary with it wholly being South German. The only province in Argentina not being German is a small Malian prospector colony in Chile.

Next time We'll have having a look at Afrika, Asian and Oceania
