Yeh...annexing the Soviet Union. That's what I want to do. Small task, but it's taken a fair while, over 600 divisions, an alliance that makes up most of the world and over 10 nuclear strikes to get to where I am...

So I just wanted to know, do you have to occupy every single Soviet province to annex the country? I believe I control all the key provinces, but the capital keeps jumping to a new location every time I march into the capital province.

Anyway....here's a link to a labelled screenshot:

I'd like to be able to end the war quickly, because I've been fighting for almost 10 years non stop now and national dissent is around 40%. And I'm beginning to have supply problems.

Thanks!

:D

Yakutsk.

Go to the VP map. Any province that is NOT white has VPs in it.

AFAIK that's the last one. Check the VP map (the last button under the Mini-Map in the bottom left). Anything in color is needed for annexation.

Then you annex. You don't have to take the VPs... the USSR has to lose them.

The only nation that can annex is the one who controls the original capital province... except in cases (such as France or USSR) where the capital gets moved by scripted event, in which case you need to control the new capital (the one created by scripted event).

NOTE that you do NOT need to chase the capital all around the USSR... the new capitals created by over-running the old ones are NOT needed in order to annex.

...so a nuke could speed things up?
If it destroys ALL of the VPs in that province, and if that province is neither the original capital nor the event-driven new capital... yes.

Okay, cheers. Annexation has always slightly confused me, the manual wasn't much help. But thanks you've really cleared that up.

And there's nothing much more satisfying than being told that the Soviet Union is now part of your country in a nice little box. :D

Annexing Soviet is not a that demanding task. About 120 divisions usually do a comportable job in 1940 (SU usually has 250 divisions at that time).

Start in May, and about 100 divisions can be pulled back before September when large groups of SU forces are gone. Then have 3-4 armor divisions marching all the way east and grabbing VP provinces one by one.

Keep rebasing tech bombers eastward, they'll clear the road while armor divisions need only march.

It takes about a year, but your attention can turn elsewhere much earlier.

On a similar note: If you are playing as Germany and are invading the USSR and the Bitter Peace event fires, is it better to accept or reject peace?

Always accept, it will reduce partisan activity (and also partisan TC load) to almost zero in all conquered territories and reduce dissent (instead of the massive rise you'll face otherwise). Also, you can just continue conquering after the BP, with only a belligerence hit as your punishment.

It's a tough choice. Accept it and you'll end war with Soviet and ACCEPT the boarderline determined by BP Event and give back all the provinces beyound. Reject it and you can continue but suffer a 15% dissent. (This would be painful if you have a very intense building schedule and production queue is full!)

In many games I played, it only fired once. I was actually confused because several of the BP conditions were not met. In that game, Germany rejected Triparty Event, wasn't allied with Japan or Italy, Japan not in war with Soviet and Soviet still control Vladivostok.

But any way, I took the 15% dissent bite and pressed on to annex Soviet. The main objective is that many of provinces with 10+ IC are east of BP boarderline. I need this IC to build navy, air and more armor divisions.
