There really should be an option to annex/integrate bordering colonial nations, because it can get quite annoying when you are a nation in the America's trying to expand, and you end up creating a colonial nation because it isn't directly connected to your capital. And it is kinda of obvious when you are using mods which adds more colonial areas, like Extended Timeline.

So my suggestion is this. If you border your colonial nation with a province which directly leads to your capital, it should should give you the option to annex/integrate them directly into your country, instead of having to first release them, and then conquering them.
