I've got a questions to more experienced HOI players. What happens when the nation you play get annexed? Can you still continue to play as the same nation and somehow try to regain your independence (I'm thinking playing as Poland)?

Close to nothing was said about government in exile in DDs since DD#1 where is was written : You can even try to survive as a minor nation, whose government continues fighting from exile.

Does somebody heard something during the streams ?

Hmm. I wonder if they scrapped it? Come to think of it, I don't remember hearing anything about governments-in-exile for a long time, either.

I think Johan just "inherited" the army of Belgium and France when they fell in the first WWW. i don't think government in exile made it.

I think I know the answer, though it might not be 100% correct.
If you are not part of a faction in a war and you lose, there is a Peace Treaty screen and if enemy decides to Annex you, you are pretty much gone forever.
However, if you are part of a faction at war, let's say you are playing as Poland in Allies faction and you get fully Occupied, then you are still playing and if your allies conquer the territory back, you can start producing units etc. there and continue your game. I don't know however, if you can research and such when fully occupied.

If its gone I'm kinda glad. I doubt many people seriously continued playing HOI3 long after they went GiE, and there was lots of programing time that was wasted on this aspect of the game... it was a shame we didn't get other content because of it.

You can't do resistance movements and pop up these militia troops in HOI4, AND WE DON'T WANT THEM. They did a good job by stopping the (beyond stupid) whack a mole, don't ask them to bring it back now ;)

They definetely said something about that somewhere. As far as I know if you are not part of a faction and you surrender, its game over, if you are part of a faction, you keep your overseas territory and can continue fighting.

There was no word though about where your army and ressources come from if you are someone like poor Poland, who has no overseas territory.

If i remember correctly in a WWW. Where Daniel was playing Germany, his ally Japan was invaded by the US and surrendered or something of the sort. I think Japan still had control of troops even after so i guess you can still fight afterwards. Correct me if im wrong.

I don't think they scrapped government-in-exile. As long as you're apart of a faction, when you capitulate you are simply occupied (your foreign territories such as colonies still remain under your control) and your allies will continue the fight.

If you are not in a faction or dont have oversea territory the game will end for you once you capitulated if the enemy decides to fully annex you, like germany annexing poland for example. If you are in a faction however, you arent entirely out until the faction leader capitulates, which would be the UK for the allies and Germany for the Axis for example. They would only be able to occupy you, but not to trigger a peacedeal if the faction joined your war. If you have oversea territory like France for example you would keep controll of it, even if you surrendered and got occupied.

I believe this was shown during the Poland WWW when Daniel capitulated but his game continued (he just had 0 manpower).

Now what you can or cannot do during this time is relatively unknown (at least to me). I'm assuming you can continue to control any units you have outside the area surrendering. That said, if you know you are going down perhaps there is a bit of strategy of knowing when to cut bait and run with a good portion of your army so you can keep up the fight and eventually liberate yourself later on in the game.

Well if you have colonies I believe you can maybe continue to fight from them as well but yeah, unsure if that will happen if most of your cores are eaten up, like if Dutch lose the homeland but do not join the allies are they a goner?
