Question about annexing a country
I know from the videos that you gain resources when annexing a country.

What about research? If a country has research you ain't done yet do you gain this then? Or do you gain a bonus when researching that/those research?

Seems to me like a logical thing that you would at least get a research time reduction when a country you annex has completed that research?

Possibly if you have multiple countries annexed with same research means more bonus

Thanks for your answer

An excellent question, the allies (and south american countries) profitted from the german research in many fields, I think it should be implemented / patched some day.

Yeah just don't seem to add up that you can steal blueprints with spies but when you conquer a country you don't get any bonus or research at all.

A very good question,
You take over a country that producers Superior tanks you would assume you are going to keep producing those tanks instead of telling that factory to be refitted to create your inferior tanks

you cant steal blueprints since there isnt a spysystem in HoI IV (yet?). You also dont gain technologies if you annex another country, no.

That it isnt in the release version doesnt mean it wont come with patches and expansions of course.

You do not get resources, but equipment, which is a important difference. While you may obtain progressive equipment, there is no such thing as research gain by annexiation. But I agree this could be included for some fine effects. Although it might occurr not very often, if we assume that the annexed country should be streets ahead, not just a little bit for this to kick in.

But i guess that gaining some good tanks from the enemie's stock already is nice.

no spy at all ? Oh one step more into casual gaming.... Soon this game will turn pegi 2
Not every thing can be bundled into the initial release, unless you want a buggy mess with dozens of half baked systems and a game that's broad but has little depth. HOI4 is already a huge undertaking and a reasonable espionage system must be pretty in depth to not be haphazard, ahistorical or useless.

Espionage is a good place for the game to go in future content, though. Still, such melodramatics and hyperbole offer zero constructive criticism.

I don't see how the lack of espionage makes the game casual. I'm actually rather glad they abstracted it away instead of rushing it. No spy system is better than a sloppy one.

I hope some form of spies will be added later. Stealing research should be possible.

But I also believe it could / should be optional. If you want to play without spying this should be possible.

well the more I see and read about HoI the more I realize many things are being taken away or simplified like never for what ?

-A dynamic terrain a layout... well I was fine with HoI3 map as I mostly play country color flat land.
-Animated soldiers... playing with nato sign not playmobil.
-Battle order where you point a target line and let the AI inefficiently move the unit towards that line... Sorry but what makes to me HoI strength is to move manually each of my divisions precisely where I want.
-Greatly smaller and simplified research tree...
-Of course now like in the WWW you can play an entire game in 1 hour.... Is that what people want, quick game ? Not me, each of my HoI 2 & 3 game lasted at least a couple dozens of hours...
-And now the spies are away...

I haven't yet seen something I have gained but I surely have seen what I have lost.

But you do have the option to move your units manually as is shown in the videos?

The map looks different but still the same provinces are there just added more visuals to the map?

-A dynamic terrain a layout... well I was fine with HoI3 map as I mostly play country color flat land.
Information in the HOI4 map is streamlined so that it is comprehensible at a glance. Streamlining interfaces is a good thing. What information do you feel the game is hiding from you in the new HoI map?
-Animated soldiers... playing with nato sign not playmobil.
Nato counters are in game. If you want NATO counters, just go into the menu and turn them on.
-Battle order where you point a target line and let the AI inefficiently move the unit towards that line... Sorry but what makes to me HoI strength is to move manually each of my divisions precisely where I want.
You can manually move each of your divisions precisely where you want. You can also make a "target line" for each individual unit if you want to micro that way. Did you watch any of WWW? Daniel spends all of his time manually micromanaging individual units, and talks about this extensively.
-Greatly smaller and simplified research tree...
It's not all that much smaller. Army experience replaces theory research, and a lot of speed bump nodes have been rolled together.
-And now the spies ae away...
This is the only thing you've mentioned that HoI4 hasn't improved upon, and I gave the likely reason in my previous post.

I haven't yet seen something I have gained but I surely have seen what I have lost.
Selective hearing/viewing tends to have that result. I would strongly suggest you read the Dev Diaries and watch all of WWW to get a better understanding.

Not saying it will be worse... But pinpointing that to me many development ressources have been wasted into superficial visual things instead of being pushed into more awaited domains. Still there are good new adds like te new country based doctrines.
So definitely, there are things that makes me want to play that game and other that I will miss, make me say they should have invested into that and not the graphics...

I'm not an HoI 4 hater but for sure not a fanboy like some around...

But a counter isn't a sprite. A counter is like a draughts or chess piece, whereas a sprite is a little cartoon man. I prefer counters because It makes you feel like you're in a war room, whereas sprites ruin immersion for me.
