im sure theres a topic but i just need some little help im playing as Castile in the recent updated version and im trying to Annex Granada and i got all there provinces and when i offer peace i cant annex them. why is this
Ambassador said:You can force-annex a country that has more than one province, but only if it is a pagan-religion country.
No. The option, if selected, ensures that no force-annexation can occur. And it's gonna mess up your game, with the AI being stuck in endless wars because it doesn't know how to finish a war in some cases (notably if vassalization is impossible).Testy said:That option only ensures that the major powers (the shields on the scenario screen) can't be annexed. IIRC, it's a holdover from the boardgame, and, since Novgorod and Byzantium are among the majors, additional proof that the designers hate Russia and the Ottoman Empire.

What you explain was only true in EU1. In EU2, minors and majors alike may be annexed.
Your proofs are then void.![]()
Hmm, yes, sorry, I wans't clear on that, I meant that if you opt to change it, it'll have the effects I mentionned.lordsid said:Hmmm...? Dug out manual & it says "FORCED ANNEX-all countries (including yours) can lose their last province, forcing them out of the game.(now for the oops parto ) on is the default value

Besides, don't be too quick on jumping on the manual. It's mostly a piece of crap, and for the same price you could have an utterly wrong information. Better look at EU2Wiki or Fodoron's Beginners Guide.![]()

I had captured a 1 state country & went to annex it.They said "no".I thought-How can you say no? Then I thought this must be something not covered in EU 2's manual.
jonti-h said:Some countries do say "no" at first to annexation as a peace deal - just keep asking, and eventually they should accept.
Who was it by the way?
Ambassador said:Don't force-annex countries if :
- you're not currently in the BBWars phase of a WC attempt
- the country isn't pagan
- the country is of a non-mariageable religion and their capital is not worth 3 rich european provinces in wealth/usefulness
Only do force-annexations if one of the situation I listed is true.
There're other ways to do that. There're always better ways than outright force-annexation. Help other countries to annex them, for example, preferably a vassal of yours (a vassal you can diplo-annex later, or better : inherit through events).SecondReich said:Or if you really have to get rid of the country, and it is vassalized to another country. This happens more often than you would think...
