I'm playing the Ottomans atm, it's 1455. I have the little green horde and the Timurids completely occupied and started colonising. Greece is mine, ofc the Turkish minors too.
I just got the Annex Egypt mission. Which, according to the Wiki, I shouldn't be getting cause the Mamluks are not my vassal. Hell, they'r my, not so fateful but still, ally.
The thing is, the mission calls for full annexation, does this mean the warscore will be so low that I can take them in one big war? I somehow doubt it, since they are at least as large as they start out.

Edit: they are certainly bigger, they just annexed Ethiopia.

I conquered them in 2 wars.
Their provinces like Cairo, Damascus and Alexandria pay a good amount of taxes after they become your cores.
And that mission gives 30 army tradition, which is very nice, but that actually implies that they expect you to conquer Egypt, not annex by diplomacy.

Okay, so then I'd have to beat them to pulp, take as many provinces as possible and take the rest down in war #2. That sounds like what I was expecting.
I assume I should take the province Egypt in the first war, or it fails the mission, right

Derp moment, there is no province called Egypt, confused with Libya

It's probably better to force a PU on them, as they're a sizeable tribal country it shouldn't take too long until a pretender takes over, plummeting their legitimacy enough to forge claims. Once you inherit, you'll both get cores, preserved buildings and the 30 tradition for completing the mission - putting you in a tremendously strong position once the Ethiopian lands are taken care of.

That's something that crossed my mind as well, but I'm a tad busy atm keeping the Timmies occupied to colonise and ripping the GH apart. The Mamluk throne is claimable atm though, hmmmmm. They are my group? Then I'm probably gonna take the throne then.

The Turkish group is massive, you have everyone in North Africa (barring two Tripoli provinces), the Mamluks, Arabia and Turkey, and if you're playing someone outside the Ottomans and they've taken Greece the quick culture switch expands from there too.

Mostly right. The Turco-Semitic culture group is indeed really big, covering basically the Near East + Turkey and North Africa. As Ottomans (or pretty much everyone else in this group), you should concentrate on PU'ing these states, colonizing the Hordes and using your infamy on other stuff, most likely Europe, once you're strong enough.
One small correction, though: While Turkish culture has a significantly higher chance to switch to in Greek provinces, this does only count for Anatolia. So, while the last Greek cultured Anatolian provinces like Trebizond will be switched to Turkish really fast, most islands as well as mainland Greece will resist Turkish culture way longer.

Alright, thanks for the advice folks, the Mamluks have been granted the honour of being led by my great emperor from his palace in Constantinopel. Back to rebel whack-a-mole and colonization.
