I'm currently playing as Prussia during the 177?s, and I'm controlling all of Polands provinces (100%). But I still can't annex the country. When do I get the ability to annex Poland?

When do I get to annex Saxony which has been my vassal since the start.

At the same time I have an alliance with Holland and Köln but I can't ask Bavaria that doesn't have any alliance, to join the alliance.

1: diplo annexation:
- relation 190+
- you must have land border with that country
- that country must be your vassal
- that country must be in your alliance
- that country must be of your religion

2: forced annexation: only possible if your enemy has only 1 prov

Non-Pagans can only be militarily annexed if they are down to one province.
Diplo-Annexation is only possible if you have a land border with your vassal.

As for Bavaria, are they someone's vassal?, in that case they cannot join any alliance.

1) You can't force-annex a whole country unless you are a Christian country trying to annex a pagan country. You must annex all of their territory except for their capital, go to war again, then annex their capital. You can only out-right annex one-province countries (unless they are pagan).

2) There are certain conditions that must be met in order to annex your vassal - 190+ relations, the vassalization must exist for 10 years (30 years+ has a better chances), you must be part of the same alliance, you must be the same religion, you must be at peace and you must have a common border.

3) Only the leader of an alliance can invite people to an alliance. You also cannot ask the vassal of another nation to join an alliance. You can only ask your vassal to join.

I still think it's weird when trying to get Bavaria to join the alliance. Since the country isn't a vassal of any country, and the relation between Bavaria and the country I'm playing as is +200.

Does it mean that I can't force-annex a country even if the religion is the same and I control all the provinces (Saxony)?

Smiley, you may not force-annex (that is, annex by operation of a peace deal ending a war) a country unless it is either:

1) A one-province nation, or
2) A pagan country of any size.

Religion (other than paganism) is irrelevant.

You may diplomatically annex a country (that is, annex by diplomatic offer a country) only if certain conditions are true (Nagel has them mostly correct, but not totally accurate, and Alessandro also makes at least one error in the conditions listed).

1) You must have them as a vassal, for at least 10 years
2) You must have them in your alliance
3) You must have relations with them of 190+
4) You must share a common land border
5) You must be able to have a royal marriage with them (this is often incorrectly reduced to the concept of same religion, but that is not accurate; you can have royal marriages with other religions, though exactly what religions will be different at different times during the game, for example, Reformed and Catholic can marry after the Edict of Tolerance)
6) You must be larger than they are economically
7) The vassal must be at peace

Please note that the longer you wait past 10 years (up to a maximum of 30 years) the better your chances. Also, the more the economic disparity, the better your monarch is diplomatically, the more the troops you have, the better the chance you have.

You can see the complete details of this and all other diplomatic actions in the [thread=172908]Diplomacy FAQ[/thread].

As for the issue of Bavaria, there must be some impediment to asking them to join the alliance. This might be that they are in an alliance, they are a vassal, you are not the head of your alliance, or you are the head, but you already have 4 other members besides yourself, in which case you cannot ask a 5th member in. Look carefully to see which of these is true, and if you hold your pointer over the greyed out option to offer alliance, you will get a tooltip that might help you understand why it is greyed out. :)

Try make better relationship with Bavaria to get him in alliance with you!! Give him some money, royal marriage(if you are catholic and he are catholic) and when relationship be at least about 150-200 then call him in alliance!! I dont guarantee success but this give you best chance!! To vassalise somebody you must have good relationship 190+, royal marriage and same military alliance!!

POZDRAV - this is hey an croatian

Isn't #6 just a suggestion? How can you tell if you are economically larger than another country?

Won't the game still technically let you try and diplo annex an economically larger country, even if you meet the other 6 objectives? I'm sure the chances of it working are like .00001% but it's technically still allowed, isn't it?

For example, if you don't meet condition 1-5 or #7, you won't even be allowed to attempt a vassalization. See what I'm saying?

If you meet 1-5 and #7 but not 6, will you even be allowed to attempt a vassalization?

As for religion - yes, you are right. The in-game help always simplifies it by just saying that you can only have a royal marriage with someone as the same religion as you. But obviously Catholics, for example, can have RMs with certain countries of other faiths.

Alessandro, this issue is one of those things that members of this forum have done extensive testing on over the now five years since the game was issued. It has been conclusively proven that you cannot complete an annexation diplomatically if you do not have a larger economy. At this moment, I cannot recall if failure to meet that condition greys it out or not, and unfortunately, the search function in this forum is suspended, making it damn near impossible to go back and drag out the very many threads in which this was discussed, tested, and reported.

I'm afraid you'll just have to trust lawkeeper on this one. :)
