And the Rome II ditto.Gotta love Paradox for what they admit on camera. Go to any other dev and they would be making up excuses for that whole 45 minute session. Anyway, this was the nail in the coffin for Victoria III rumors.
Wow, going after the failures... I mean "learning experiences". That's the most important thing there in my eyes. It's good that they were willing to address it on camera, but better is that it sounds like they do view a failed game as a learning experience to make future products better.
Basically there's no one on the creative team with the inspiration and passion for a Vicky 3 right now. I'm glad that's the case. Not that there's no one there with it, but if the audience is more passionate about the game than the developer, chances are it will fail to meet expectations. What did he say about Victoria III ?
He hit them with some tough questions about past failures and some discussion on DLC and their approach. There's no real teasers unless you count no Vicky 3 or Rome 2 in the works, although they do seem like they'd like them. Oh, and no Game of Thrones either. Not sure how much more there is to say without going into an essay.I realize this is a 44min video, but can someone basically post the gist of it in text format? Not everyone wants to watch the whole video, I'm sure.
if they make CK3 before vicky3 I will go to stockholm myself and torch their HQWell CK3 can't come soon enough. CK2 seems dated and old in comparison now, and for as much flack as PDS took for AE mechanics, I simply cannot go back to the completely unchecked map painting that CK2 was, now that I actually understand how to play grand strategy games.
As for the other two games? I wouldn't mind seeing what PDS could do in the roguelike, 4X or RPG genres. As long as it's turn-based... and if they are working on a console-only shooter, I can promise them no money of mine.
...I'm honestly stumped, apart from being extremely disappointed. No Rome II, no Victoria III, but three games in the works.
If we are to go in that direction then in the very interview they do say that they have been far to quick to announce things. This would just be an extreme move in the other direction.I'm not ENTIRELY sure we can say this for sure. They've been joking about 'No Rome II' for long enough, that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they flat out denied they were doing it right up until it was announced. They also may have been being a little canny about Victoria 3. They said it would happen when someone on the team had the passion and drive to make it. They did NOT say no one did. We were clearly meant to INFER no one did and it wasn't being worked on, but they may also have been being clever and mischievous in an attempt to keep it a surprise. The response came across as a little rehearsed and little ~carefully~ worded.
Now, I'm not saying either of those games is in development, and after that I'd be more inclined to bet against it, but I think there's a decent chance that they're playing clever word games and that at least one of those titles IS being worked on.
We'll see, I guess!![]()
