Does anybody know of any in-game traits besides the congenital ones (lunatic, infirm, incapable, possessed and so on) and homosexual and excommunicated that could possibly disqualify being named an ætheling?

Eunuch and Blind, especially if you get Anglo-Saxon's into the Varangian Guard
An excellent idea, especially since I already opened up the guard to Saxons and Russians.
Yep.
It's one thing believing that the Cenel Conaill are real Uí Neill, but it's another believing that the Uí Mail Doraid were. The genealogies of his family (and the Uí Canannain) are pretty hard to believe, though I suppose what matters is whether or not people in the 9th century believed in the link.
Don't want to limit it too much. I'd say limit it to physical/mental/spiritual deficiencies.
My only regret is that extending the timeline any further to make Caterina Sforza playable would be pushing boundaries too far (in terms of game accuracy and what have you).
The problem is that relatively speaking, those are fairly rare, so that's lots and lots of aethelings.
Lots and lots? Who's able to get this trait to make it lots and lots? In a ideal world, I would want to see it only available to sons and grandsons of Kings that were born after one had become King. That way, a ruling dynasty should pass the trait along easily but a new dynasty would still have to work hard to keep the crown. Also it would mean that Eadgar would get the trait but not his children unless he gets the throne first.
Any dynasty member of the king or throne claimant who isn't horrifically disabled, and Harold does have lots of siblings and children, to be fair.
And I don't think that'd be possible.
I don't like the idea of all Harold's brothers getting the trait. No way to incorporate the born in the purple trait to combat that?
Born to the purple is hardcoded.
Thought as much. Well we will see how your trait works once you're done, I guess till we see the finished thing, we will always question the details because I think we all have different views on how it will turn out.
*light bulb* I could make the trait available to people with the prince/princess minor title!
Good idea but what about Eadgar? He is currently not a Prince
Is he not? Odd, Aelfwine Knytling is...
