The buff to Catholicism, while nice in itself, had the nasty side effect of making all the faiths of the reformation rarely worth changing to. And this is on top of the hassle it already was to make the switch and dealing with all the big players in Europe disliking you for it.

Depends on what the focus of the playthrough is if you want pure efficiency then Cath gives better bonuses since it just gives everything and gives bonuses to colonial which is a popular England run but similar to Hussite (though who really plays Bohemia) or maybe Zoroastrian (Persia/Bahmanis/Mewar/Gujarat) its a unique thing which although might be more awkward to get rolling is something different. Main thing from Anglican is just the easy DoF with no drawbacks, insta money, easy Mercentism and stab a the points are easier to build making Mercentile and Stab quicker to build up and unlimited Deus Vult which by itself you could argue could make it more efficient then Catholic but you need to put in alot of work with expansion in Europe which if you go for the France PU might be the game plan.

An Anglican, with France PU into Roman Empire might be solid run since 25% less AE in all wars pre imperialism is never a bad thing. Even just the CBs justification covering all provs rather then just claimed land will save you thousands of diplo points over a game.
