It would be great if the Music would be in a separate folder which one could fill with Music of ones choosing, like in Silent Hunter 3.

I liked the HOI 3 music, but after over 200 hours of play it does get repetitive.

I always turn off the music and play Spotify in the background. Works fine and you don't have change a thing. Or you can play any other music program in the background of course.

On a sidenote I do love the music that came with the game, but after a couple houndred hours I preferer some more variation

Cuz his music is awesome, though I do prefer the more darkish hoi2 music over the still absolutely awesome hoi3 music. As always I look forward to the music that PI puts in their games! That is actually all I feel like saying about the music, it some of the best I have heard and I have simply no negative comments about them.

I love the soundtracks for PDS games. I used CK2 and EU4 soundtracks for mood music on board game night, they are in the regular rotation.

HOI4 soundtrack will be good, no doubt. Thanks for the tip about their soundtracks being available on Spotify. I had no idea.

Since one year I follow the Hearts of Iron IV forum more or less frequently, but I have never seen a post about the soundtrack. That is why I have made this post, so that we can discuss about the soundtrack of Hearts of Iron IV.

Having good music in a game is like the cure for cancer. Everyone agrees it´s good, but it´s not easy to make.

If you know how to make good music, apply for a job. Asking it is asking the obvious. And takes no effort at all.

That said soundtrack is pretty important but for such a big game it´s predictable it will get repetitive (hell, EU4 already is for me), so make modding music easier. I prefer the old HOI2 model to the convoluted HOI3 one.

For those who don´t recall, it had war.txt and peace.txt. One played in war and one played in peace. All you had to do was add the name of the music in the list and that´s it, you then had a new song list. Easier than putting new music in HOI3, IMO.

Music is often forgotten in games, but its completely invaluable. I hope HOI4 has goose-bump inducing music like CK2 had.

I think EU3 and 4 also had excellent music. Vicky 2 was meh but it was easy to mod playlist as it was same system as HOI2, so no big deal. The biggest mod for Vicky 1 had a great amount of good music, all you had to do was download it and put the songs on the folder.

First of all, let me say that I loved Vicky's historical soundtrack.

But now that I've said that, let me say that Andreas' soundtracks are really good. Sure, I eventually get bored with them past the 300 hour mark, but can anyone say that they wouldn't also get bored of John Williams or Jeremy Soule at that point and want something different?

Whatever deal they have with Andreas is worth it, and I expect great things in HOI4.

Of course I want good music for the game, but I also want it easy and idiot proof to add in music and to be able to tailor that music to play after various triggers. HOI III was not simple to have the music play by triggers. I spent many days trying to get it to work, and I think I only had half of it work correctly. This from someone who has modded Paradox music in their games since 2003. In EU IV and CK II it's hidden and you have to find it in an odd place, so it's even more difficult to change, or add music to.

I take it not many people edited HOI III music either because there was so little information about how to edit it in quite a few searches of the forum. I had to wait days for someone to finally respond to my music question there.
