I have been playing mostly HoI3 recently, and when I jumped back to EU3 with HTTT, there was something that I didn't especially like.
Sprites..
I liked the way that HoI3 made information directly visible for me, instead of what I am used to in EU3 where the only way to know[1] if a army is massive or a walk-over is to mouse over and read the tooltip. So I'm sitting in EU3 missing my counters.
Now I know that a direct transfer of the counters makes little sense in Vicky2 or EU3, since most armies are mixed with infantry, a bit of cavalry and other units that are in the games. But a different kind of counter could be used, since there is no need for a icon for the unit, it could instead show some statistics.
These statistics could be many things.. Approximate attack, defense and scouting power. Or unit count of different types. I don't know exactly which stats are the most important, but where I fail, others might succeed
The counters has already been implemented in the Clausewitz engine, and maybe a design decision is behind the possible removal[2]? And the counters might have to look different and such, to fit the mood of the game[3].
And then I'd like to round of with telling, that I don't think sprites should be removed - some people like them, some people don't. And lastly to the modelers: that their sprites are nice looking, but I'm just more to the number crunching side of Paradox games
[1] if there is some setting that I missed
then I'd like to know... Obviously.
[2] the screenshots just show sprites, but that don't mean that counters has been removed.
[3] just like the HoI3 map was deemed to dark and grey for Vicky2.
Ps. I know it's late to ask for changes, and that Vicky2 might already be in code freeze.
So, any thoughts?
