Honestly, some of these YT players can be pretty obnoxious...still, there is some value in the footage.

To be sure, it's the game's own potential I've seen in the videos, not the gameplay by the Twitchers and YT'ers themselves that convinced me to pre-order.

Their gameplay is awkward at best and downright stupid at worst. Well, each one is different, each has his or her own hobby horse, each looks at different aspects of a game, and the game is new and no best practices have been established yet I suppose. Well, so much the better as we can start exploring it all ourselves next week.

Sometimes I just switched off the audio as some of these guys are really irritating, like their over-acting excitement when a building catches fire, not to mention four letter-words or constantly interrupting narration for acknowledging new subscribers. Without the sound, you sometimes catch details you might have missed otherwise.

I was waiting for some details to come through in the Let's Plays, and the dedication of the CO people on this and other channels as well that convinced me.

I only watch Skye's LP's because I know he's experienced with city builders. Even he makes mistakes, but admits them when he does.
Does he do things the same way I would? No, but I find some things he does can inspire me, and others, by doing things I may never think of.
He also asks for suggestions from his viewers.
I'll keep watching, and learning to make things easier for myself when I do get the game. I'm in no big hurry, still enjoying Banished CC:EA atm.

Your perceptions is really messed up, you perceived "rage" where there is none. I was calling it like I see it, how it actually is. Getting upset about it. If ind it odd how people on the Internet always perceive "rage" where there is none to be found, perhaps being online can give people delusions? Or maybe the Internet gives people this deprivation of perception making it so they cannot perceive things as they actually are. Either way, if I were you and someone notified me that I was not in my right mind, I would at least get a second opinion, perhaps you should seek professional help for your delusions.
What a load of pseudo-intellectual nonsense, borne out of a laughable non-understanding of the word "outrage". Even if I had said "rage", it's not like I could hear your tone of voice so it's idiocy to jump to "delusions" rather than "misunderstanding". But y'know, I didn't. How about you seek professional help for your unwarranted sense of grandeur.

Skyes is the only Lets Play I have seen so far that actually gives you some tips and tricks about building your city, and also explaining his thought process while doing it. I thought his was the best so far, but I too iam done watching because I rather play the game then have everything spoiled.

I agree. Here is Skye Storm's current LP for those people who want to see it played but also need to keep their blood pressure down.

Having watched far too many hours of game play, I had decided 'that's it for today', and then I clicked on your link... THANKS! thanks a lot.. now I'm watching.

So far I've yelled at Quill18 the least out of all the streamers. Except for when he showed his road-demo town, showing about when traffic lights appear etc.
He mentioned that citizens get in to their lanes very early, yet when he built his central freeway (pictured above) I tried reminding him in the stream to leave a space in the middle to leave off-ramps to the left AND right (eg ramps down the middle and under the freeway) to balance the lanes.
I've enjoyed watching and have gotten tips and made mental notes. Not long now. First time watching Skyes and it is a nice change of pace, seeing the city up close and not a lot of random zooming in and out.

so far though the lack of merging lanes I think will annoy me the most about this game, hopefully devs get onto that soon

You all are not missing anything, I suspect that the majority of these people have never played a city simulator before, not even quill18. There are only two or three of them that have. They have all obviously received or were promised donations to display the game to boost pre-order sales. most of these players would not play this game on their own, most of them are strategy gamers, not simulator gamers. This game is way outside of their scope. This is all about money for Paradox and all about getting new viewers for the Youtubers, everyone is making out like a bandit except for us, the players who actually enjoy and love city simulators. I guess I/we should not be surprised, when it comes right down to it ALL publishers are exactly the same. They do not care how low they have to go to get it, they will delve as far as they can to get that money.

Your first contention: Most of the reviewers don't seem like they've played a city builder before. Agreed... 100%.
Your second contention: The fact that Paradox is connecting with potential customers by going through these Youtubers is somehow a problem. TOTALLY DISAGREE. It's called smart marketing, and honestly, anyone who is interested in this game is all in the same boat along with CO. More views on Youtube = more customers for the game. More customers = more people involved with building custom content = more future purchases = more ongoing DLC and support from Paradox, etc. If this game is highly successful, it's good for every person who is into the game!
Your third contention: You seem to imply that the reviewers were all offered kickbacks to give positive reviews. The first flaw in your argument is that you ignore the fact that many of these reviewers have enormous Youtube audiences... something that I think they are highly motivated to protect. If they started giving good reviews to bad products, their audiences would stop trusting them, and they'd be dead in the water. The second flaw is the implication that someone who didn't receive "donations" might have come up with a different conclusion. But, honestly, as I was watching, I was getting just as giddy as these guys were, and I assure you I'm not getting any kickbacks.

Bottom line... these guys may not be great city builders, but I applaud CO for using them for one week to promote the product

I will admit, I stopped watching the let's plays too. Drove me up a wall. As I was watching the videos, here are a few cents I threw in:

-I respect the guys who made the let's plays, but after watching them ignore that citizens were dying and buildings were burning down, I clicked close and decided to wait.
-Sometimes I forgot I was watching a YouTube video and clicked the screen out of impulse.
-Chirper did appear to get in the way sometimes, but it wasn't over-the-top. At least a function to silence it has been implemented.
-Pear-shaped neighborhoods?!
-For some reason I had an almost OCD urge to connect every water pipe as opposed to having them dead end, like in some videos. SC4, I guess.
-Those interchanges. I yelled at my computer screen almost, as I watched them completely fail to make some average intersections. When a certain YouTuber attempted to make an interchange that would have effectively been remedied with a diamond, I introduced my head to the desk. The ones built took up far too much space and, although efficient, looked fugly.
-There should definitely be two-lane off ramps and at least 5-6 lane highway segments.
-When Quill18 drew that off-ramp that created that 90 degree drop in the boulevard, I died.
-Another thing with roads. a lot of cities always have a main boulevard where business, and most of its traffic, is generally done. It is generally referred to, as Main Street. I'd like to think that the main road entering a city should be of a capacity large enough to accommodate any sudden change in traffic flow.
-Power was always an issue. It was always borderline. At this point I usually plop a crap ton of power sources until the bar shoots for the sky. In SC2013 I had 1.7GW of power just so the dial was never close to running out (yes I know it's overkill).
-I believe in an efficient city, even if that means playing by leveling up. Starting off with a plan first solves problems later. Many of the info views aren't available right away, but if your city still has room to expand then building a farm district right next to a residential district early on (even if the ground is fertile) isn't such a good idea.
-The water pollution, although the water physics in game were absolutely incredible, still kills me. Maybe in map editor I'll construct a huge crater to dump sewage into. By the time it fills I'll have the treatment plants unlocked, and modified so that they treat at least 97% of the water and not just some, much like real life. Hmm...I wonder if at some point in the future, a Cities of Tomorrow-esque pack till emerge that will allow me to clean murky water? That'll clean the water and make it drinkable again. XD
-I hope the Let's plays put to rest the underground power connections. It's obvious that you can delete power lines when they aren't necessary anymore and the radii of power round the buildings seemed adequate.
-Holy hell, the map takes way too long to fill, especially with good city planning. When I saw the 25 tiles and thought of a megalopolis, I thought of an Advil for some reason.
