Let there be steam

Steam is an evil that could ruin all fun of the game. Will it be applied to other titles in the future? I....hate it very much......

Gamersgate version is great, no need for third party launcher and the game launcher automatically checks for updates, allows you to enable/disable DLC and ingame you can buy it very easily too.

On a related note, I will buy nearly every single game release of Paradox if not for the gameplay, for the reason that there is NO DRM AT ALL in their games! I can't thank them enough for that.
Other game developers wouldn't have released a demo either since it isn't possible to just set the limit somewhere - Paradox, they just release a fully playable demo that you can even easily mod to be unlimited playable! And I am almost 100 % sure that the sales did NOT decrease for Paradox.

Umm, what do you think the Mongol faces and Dynastic Shields are?

Plus, they've already confirmed there wont be Expansion packs for Crusader Kings II, just DLC updates.

Steam is a nice platform and alot of people enjoy using it.

I think the 2 sided coin PI are using is the right one (you can buy on steam or you can still get it from gamersgate without the steam stuff you dislike)
I even have to admit myself, that I bought it from GG, but thats because of modding etc.. the vast majority of my games are on steam. I had it since day 1 and I was a rebel back then aswell.. but the fact is that it works smooth and its a good platform.

Don't get all the hate for steam. But some people just enjoy to keep all their pc games organized in one spot and watch their collection grow. And steam definitely provides that, hassle free.

Gamersgate version is great, no need for third party launcher and the game launcher automatically checks for updates, allows you to enable/disable DLC and ingame you can buy it very easily too.

And you actually don't need to log into steam to play CK2 or to launch it. Just go into your steam games folder and launch it from the icon there to play.

Yeah, they fixed that problem when EU3 was first released on steam - You can literally just copy the whole thing out of steam and it will still work.

Exactly...I have upwards of 30 titles on steam and haven't had a problem with a single one. And, as is typical with my steam experience, CKII runs like a champ.

<-- old school who only buys CD versions...steam sounds too suspicious :ninja:

IIRC Johan (or Fred?) said that boxed version is barely making any profit - so I doubt that there will be much more Paradox games with boxed version.
