I haven't acquired Rome yet, but feel sure I will. I'm presently playing HOI2.

I do wonder what the music is like on Rome. EU2 has a music mix from medieval to classical with the mix changing as the years and decades passed, HOI has classical music, HOI2 has WW2 themed music, but from the ancient world while we know what the instruments were like and we know the Greeks had identified the music scale we use today, there was no form of music notation and we only have vague descriptions of what ancient music was like.

How have Paradox handled this ?

An interesting question

Do we have any sheet music for the Roman era? Were the Romans able to transcribe thier music? What does historically acurate Roman music sound like?

The music in this game is... appropriate. And sometimes joyful.

The music is nice but rather standard epic music. Don't know if any real roman music has been preserved. And if we would still enjoy hearing it ofcourse...

I was watching the history channel the other day on the romans, when the Romans conquered southern Britain they adopted the bagpipe, so they should have some highlander music in the game even though they dont

imho, the game's music is junk.

while it's true that there's no "sheet music" for the music of antiquity, there are most certainly some very talented scholar-performers out there who've done some pretty amazing work with a not insignificant body of source evidence to "recreate" what actual music of the epoch would've sounded like... give me none of this bogus 'hollywood-ized' bs!

for instance, one might check out:
