This is my first time to attempt an AAR. I looked through the threads to find an interesting and challenging nation to attempt an AAR. Most of the ones I saw were major nations. I decided to attempt an Iraq one, I didn't see one on the forums so I thought I would attempt it.

HeartsofIronmenu.jpg

The difficulty will be normal/aggressive. My starting date is January 1st 1936. I will be using full IC takeover only.

Since Iraq is a puppet and under military control of the UK, I started the game as UK and released Iraq from military control and puppet control. Also to make the game more challenging I left the Allies to peruse my own interests.

Our new government
newiraqgoverment.jpg

Our Head of State Ghazi Iban Faysal has announced that he will become the new chief of the Army. With his new role he has helped to revamp the Iraqi Army. With the new Chief we are able to cut down our supply consumption of about 15%. This will save us a great amount of supplies that we may later sell for money. In other news Nurias Said has announced that he has "voluntarily" stepped down as the Foreign Minister of Iraq. Ghazi has appointed Ragheb Nashashbi as the new minister. Ragheb is a renounced Iraqi scholar in foreign policy and will be a more experienced minister then our former inept minister. In other news our military demonstration was a complete success and we are another step closer to a Hawkish state.

*Today on January 1st 1936 Ghazi Iban Faysal makes a public address to the people of Iraq.*

“My fellow citizens I stand here before you to announce a grand achievement today. Too long we have suffered under the authority of a realm that is not of our own. Our own people suffered under the control of the horse lovers who called themselves Mongols. After our country fell to them they had the audacity to massacre thousands upon thousands of innocent Iraqis. For about three hundred years we suffered the turmoil of a constant war between the former Ottomans and our Persian neighbors. Our independence was short lived when the English Empire drove the Ottomans out of our country. The English claimed they were going to give us independence but that lie was short lived. Too long we have suffered under the control of a corrupt empire! Too long have our land been stripped of its resources and have them stolen! I stand here to announce to you that enough is enough, today January 1st we declare our independence and claim our own sovereignty! * Thousands of Iraqis cheer in triumph* Today we have retaken control of our own military. We shall begin trade negotiations with the red giant to the north. Our future is uncertain but I give you my word that Iraq will never falter! *More cheering as the public address ends*

Chapter 1 Rebulding and Strenghting the Iraqi Army

iraqiarmy.jpg

*Ghazi Iban Faysal sits in his chambers awaiting his meeting with Bakr Sidqi commander of the Iraqi Army Sidqi enters shortly after*

SidqiGood day to you President Fayasl, to what may I owe this meeting to?

FaysalSince the British left how does our army fair?"

Sidqi I have some good news and some bad news regarding our army. The good news is that we have the strongest army compared to our Muslim neighbors. The bad news is after we were forced to assist the British in capturing Kuwait and the holy land for them they left our army in shambles. During the expulsion of the British we did manage to capture one of their artillery pieces. This will help strength our army greatly.

Faysal How long will it take to reinforced our army?

Sidqi It will not be a quick process. Our mortar company was severely weakened in the battle of Kuwait City. With our captured artillery we can now build our own, I ordered four additional brigades that will strength our army even greater. I also suggest that we have Alan Rawlinson research new ways that our army can be improved.

Faysal Rawlinson? Is he not the Air Force pilot I appointed to lead our Air Force? Why would we have him research technology for our army?

Sidqi Our General Staff don’t have the training that is required in developing a new land doctrine, our air force general would be more qualified.

Faysal How can our General Staff not have the training required! This is outrageous. I may need to rethink my General Staff if they contuine to disappoint me. Now…tell me about our newly acquired Air Force.
Iraqairforce.jpg

Sidqi We manage to capture a Gloster Gladiator from the British. However there is one huge problem besides that it too is low on strength

Faysal What’s the problem?

Sidqi We don’t have any bombs for it nor do we know how to build our own bombs. All we can use the plane for is to shoot down enemy planes….but none of our potential enemies have any planes.

Faysal How do we not know how to make bombs for a plane? It’s a BOMB it shouldn’t be that hard! I am giving you an order, figure out how to make bombs!... Do we at least know how to manufacture bullets for our
planes

Sidqi It shall be done Mr. President and yes we are producing ammo to replenish our supplies.

I don't mind who you attack, but having your soldiers occupy Lhasa would be terribly gamey, yet that's what most middle eastern AAR's i've seen end up doing

Nice update, by the way. Maybe going for firepower focus might have been a better idea though, I think your tech teams fit it better, and even though its a worse doctrine, you'll need to be as efficient as possible in research if you want to accomplish much.

Also if you choose to use CAS, don't forget that Baghdad is far from any enemy troops, so you'll need more airbases if you want to do that. TAC's will have longer range though.

I know I was just joking and this is my first time playing as a middle eastern nation, why would it be gamey to take over Tabet and occupy their capital? Also while firepower would be more efficient i think in the long run i will might get better results
