USSR: late 1940 - early 1941

As it became clear that Germany and the USA had agreed for German forces to evacuate North America - treacherous fascists and capitalists working together, how inevitable! - Stalin knew these would be used against his Soviet Union. However, the war in Japan persisted as Japanese forces dug in around the south of China, so the Great Leader aimed to make peace with Japan before the summer of 1941. He began offering white peace to Japan, something the determined Japanese leadership regretfully refused. Stalin persisted in bringing peace to Asia, with the Japanese rejecting all reasonable offers of an end to hostilities.

In March 1941 the Red Army was so caught up in Asia that it only had 142 divisions to face German forces. The USSR was in great peril, being mightily exposed to German attack...

In the meanwhile Stalin brought communism to the Tibetan people, declaring war on the backward feudal state on 16th January 1941 completely liberating them by 28th February.

Somewhere in the deserts of New Mexico:

An Australian sergeant together with a few soldiers is gazing down to the valley below them. In the valley a stream of men are slowly moving towards east.

"We sure sent them packing eh sarge?" Said one of the soliders.

"We shouldve killed the whole lot, bloody gerrie bastards! We had em all surrounded!" Another one said.

"Kill forty divisions worth of men, fathers, sons, brothers? Those are the actions of tyrants, nazis, dictators, men who are not men, but beasts, are we beasts? No, we are civilized men, who fight this war so we dont have to fight anymore." Said the sarge, giving the men a stern look.

"They were out of ammo, food, water, fuel, they had no chance and they knew it. But they were lucky, lucky that their government eventually cared for their lives. They shouldnt have been sent here in the first place, away from the peace of their homes. Now they have a long walk back to home, and we drive right behind them to retake our lands. USA and Canada is soon safely in Allied hands again, in exhange for a few German lives." The sergeant continued.

"A few!? Theres like a million men on the continent!"

"They are not men anymore...look at them...they are beaten, they gambled, threw the dice, and lost, miserably, all the propaganda of their invincible armies and german superiority were crushed in these deserts...they will never recover from this kind of humiliation. Those men returning home down there, they are not men who will win wars. The men who win wars, are standing on these ridges and hills, right behind them." The sergeant looked on the hills, seeing soldiers everywhere doing the same as his group, watching the germans retreat in peace, he saw flags of the ANZAC forces, Canada, USA, India and Great Britain, so many nationalities, but at that moment, they were all brothers, triumphant brothers.

The German gamble had failed in America, defeated by the overstretched supply lines and fresh reinforcements from the other Allied nations. Governments of USA and Germany had agreed on a treaty which gave the remaining german forces a safe passage to retreat rapidly, saving their precious lives, while the USA and Canada could then be quickly retaken without further delay from fighting, benefitting both goverments, also, Germany further agreed to retreat from Africa, Mideast and Suez, pulling everything back to the mainland Europe, giving the Allies access to the Mediterranean sea and strategical width.

With the invasion over, the time was now on Allies side, repairing their industry, reorganizing their armies and fleets, the Allies now began planning a counter-invasion to end the war.

Now it all depended on whether the Soviet Union could keep back the Germans on their frontier long enough.

Ah, Victory! The best moment to give speeches. Have some doubts, though.

No, we are civilized men, who fight this war so we dont have to fight anymore."

I wonder how it will work?

"They were out of ammo, food,

Opinions are split here. They had plenty of spinach and soybeans. Opinions are split, if this can be called food.

water, fuel,

Again, controversial. There was enough fuel. Just not biofuel.

"A few!? Theres like a million men on the continent!"

"They are not men anymore...

That is a little harsh. Just because they don't eat red meat and drive SUV...

With the invasion over, the time was now on Allies side, repairing their industry, reorganizing their armies and fleets, the Allies now began planning a counter-invasion to end the war.

I wonder if that invasion was good or bad for Germans. They were using American IC for some time, and USA were not; they haven't lost their divisions and gained some experience; they've seen Statue of Liberty and Mt. Rushmore, though not Yogi Bear.

Now it all depended on whether the Soviet Union could keep back the Germans on their frontier long enough.

I' most interested for some time now. Aren't you guys the masters of suspense? :D

USSR: April - May 1941

The Fascists invade!

All hell breaks lose as Hitler declares war on the USSR. Stalin scrambles to his dacha and hides there for weeks on end, not knowing what to do. In the previous months he had a chronic fear of the Germans invading, which was made worse by him not knowing how to respond if it did. The only decision he could make, which had been long pre-planned, was to move vulnerable industry in Europe to the safe heartlands of the East- it was a wise choice considering the USSR had lost 24 factories within six days of the invasion, and 16 more by the end of the month. The headless Red Army decided to defend behind the Dnieper, hoping to stand a chance against the technologically superior German forces. It was a costly strategy as it meant much of European Russia was ripe for the taking, and so was Bulgaria which fell within weeks. But the Politburo had little faith in victory because much of the Red Army was bogged down in Asia against Japanese forces. If the Dnieper defensive line could be held then the Soviet Union might recover from this perilous position. One positive was that Polish forces revolted against German rule in Warsaw at the end of April, giving Stalin a glimmer of hope amidst a storm of overwhelming terror. Additionally, the Soviet Union was boosted by 750,000 new recruits signing up to join the Red Army between April and May. If the Red Army has its way this war will be a long and bloody one!

On the other side of the world, which seemed irrelevant at this point in time, the USA had re-taken all of it's national land but it would clearly take a lot longer for its industry to be up and running again. Stalin did not know what to make of this - on the one hand it meant the capitalists suffering was prolonged, but on the other it meant America posed little threat to Germany at the moment. It was an ideological paradise but a geo-political nightmare.

Because the Allied armies had over-run and encircled most of the German forces there. I think Roosevelt only wanted a full evacuation of the USA, otherwise he would've destroyed the Wehrmacht there instead.

So it's started. That Big Blob of Nazis in the northern part of the front seems rather unopposed. Situation looks grim. Or gray. Or, rather, ecologically green :)
Haha, very good! Although not for the Soviets...

USSR: June - August 1941

Moscow is lost!

Within months of the invasion Stalin decided it best to retreat from his beloved capital in order to preserve the long-term survival of the USSR. 26th June will go down as darkest day of the Soviet Union's rich history. This war will be a very long and tough one. On top of losing the capital Stalin had to put up with the incompetent and lazy Soviet bureaucrats deciding to just move the capital one province away from Moscow, meaning it was still on the frontline - this continued for some time.

Hitler decided to further infuriate the great leader by liberating the so-called country of Ukraine, something which went against everything Hitler stood for.

The war in Asia dragged on, with Japanese forces holding the line just north of Indochina. Stalin hopes the Chinese forces will soon materialise and thus free up Soviet troops. Japan had additionally landed forces in Siberia, which annoyed Stalin slightly, but it was not much of a concern as Siberia held very little strategic value. A Japanese landing near Nanjing was quickly encircled and destroyed.

The Allies demonstrated their support for the Soviet people by invading the Axis puppet of Scandinavia, hoping to take the colossal iron mines in the north of Sweden.

The Allies had also completely conquered Italian North Africa by mid-July.

One of the few saving graces for the USSR was that it was the third most vicious country in the world, which is definitely needed in time of war. The Japanese had lost a particularly high amount of men.

Losses mounted up on all sides very quickly.

Virtually the entire industry of the USA was up and running again, and at the moment appeared to be the Soviet Union's only chance of survival!
