An Update from Cities: Skylines

Hey there everyone! Let's let the Chirper of the bag: we have a couple of announcements coming soon -- like REAL soon!!

Before this happens, we want to reassure this awesome community that we are still hard at work on the previously-mentioned project with Colossal Order, but we are not yet at a point where we are ready to share more information on it. Our upcoming news and announcements are not related to that project nor do they affect that project’s timeline.

We are really excited to share the upcoming Cities-related news with you soon, we look forward to continuing to play and share our creations together, and we are in awe of the inspiring directions you take the game into!

This annoucement could refer to one of the following two possibilities:

1. It could be another major DLC (as there are some recent activity on SteamDB)
2. It could be the most-speculated sequel to Cities: Skylines (The NVIDIA leak also includes an entry called "Cities: Skylines 2" which does not exist or available to public)

Well it can't be about CS2 or the new project they are working on as it states they are not yet at a point where we are ready to share more information on it. About the DLC, I really doubt it would be another expansion pack as it there hasn't been one for the past 21 months now & most likely Sunset Harbor was the last one. It could be some DLC related to to Christmas or holiday season as the current time frame does suggest it could be related to it.

So boiled down they are going to announce something soon that is not CS2, and are trying to get in front of it so the announcement is not met with nothing but "WTF IS THIS WHERE IS CS2?!!!"

As long as CS2 has an online multiplayer aspect, you can delay it as much as you want

Cities 2 isn't coming anytime soon.

Some minor DLC or redundant CCpack for CS1 coming soon.

Tl;dr CS2 is ages away, people won't care, and will cry about it anyway.

Looking forward to this new DLC, hopefully the specifically worded statement indicates big change but I'm not expecting too much.

As much as I'd like to see Jelly turn out to be my much requested addition of Law And Order, I'll bet that both are Christmassy themed CCPs.

By my definition of "real soon", we should have seen it by now. Even more so for "REAL soon!!" (that's an uppercase REAL and two exclamation points).

Can we at least get a ballpark idea of what soon means? (I'm going to guess "no".)

It may very well be. It all depends on the nature of what's coming on what form the announcement will take.

"Soon" is "without undue time lapse". Maybe by the end of the day.
I know I tend to take things literally (my ASD son is even more so), so taking that into account, I would have figured Friday or earlier. Monday at the latest.
"REAL soon!!" seemed more like it should have been this morning if not by evening yesterday.

Yes I agree a podcast is not the announcement we want but technically it is an announcement.

I really hope that whatever this new content is that it is more than just some christmas themed stuff. A proper DLC with some new features added to the game in a free update would be awesome but I've not got high hopes.

Also i feel like this announcement makes it very clear that the "previously mentioned project" is highly likely to be CS2.
