7. Forced disarmament does nothing.
I'm not sure what this was designed to do, but I think this should do something along the lines of cut the standing army and reserve pool in half and perhaps force the nation not to build troops or increase the pool for a year. Perhaps also increase the cost to 75% WS.
Perhaps limit the losing nation as if it had a pacifist party in power for a certain amount of time as well (or instead)?

As for voting, there should be a distinction for letting the colonies vote or not. Whether it's based on reforms or on party policies doesn't matter much to me, tho' the latter is as Grosshaus says, slightly unrealistic.

Have you noticed the bits of tutorial code in Vic? Depending on how much is there it might be possible for Johan to enable it and let fans fill in tutorial.csv. Then again, it might be the only 2 lines I've seen are the only lines of tutorial code still in.
Tutorials will not be added.

It was a conscious decision not to include a Tutorial in Victoria.

I know, but it looks like bits of Tutorial code are still kicking about. What I wondered was is it could be restored enough for a fan made tutorial to be possible, or if the line "Tutorial = no" is the only bit.

Once again, there won't be a tutorial. Not an official one or a fan-made one. The parts of tutorial there are around are AFAIK only what was about tutorial in HoI code, to make it work would require access to the source.

Seriously, I don't think the game needs a tutorial. I learned almost every single aspects of the game without needing a tutorial, just by myself. This may happen also because I already had played EUII and HoI, but in these games I never used the tutorial too.

Well, I learnt the game all on my own, without having played any Paradox game prior to Vicky, without the forum and - obviously - without a tutorial.

However, I DO actually think it would've been good to have a tutorial; I think that this might've helped less patient players (and, perhaps equally importantly, reviewers) to appreciate the incredible depth of the game.

However, I don't think we need game code to make a tutorial; there are already community projects aimed to help new players understand the game, such as Memnon's revised manual, Rafiki's Camp Victoria and, of course, WikiVicky.

I just wish that the reviewers would've had these resources so that the game could've gotten fair reviews.

And once again, I know :) I'm not asking so a tutorial so much as I'm wondering if it's possible. And if it were possible, sould Pardox be upset if I made one? With 2 minutes work I got this:
ScreenSave5.jpg

If I can get the arrows to point to places on demand a fan tutorial should be possible, although no one should get their hopes up before I find if I can make it display custom arrows and text.

I disagree. Getting into Victoria was bloody hard, and I still don't think I understand everything. What the game needs is a well indexed 500 page manual....

Nice

Keep going, we want a complete tutorial by Saturday.

Well done- but whilst this is certainly laudible, if a new player has bothered to come to the forum it's probably a bit late for a tutorial. Really, for all the brilliant user efforts to inform, unless the player learns how to play from what comes with the game, he's going to chuck it in the bin and go back to playing Unreal Tournament... Sure.

However, what we're looking at here now is what we can do based on the situation as it is today. It seems DR is on his way to figuring out if there is a way for the comjunity to put together a tutorial, and if there is, it'll be quite a thing to tell new players coming here, quite bewildered, to "just install this, and follow the instructions".

Hey, you guys, Rafiki posted this thread to the people of Paradox to get to know about if they have abondonded victoria or still developing it. So I think we should show support to the game instead of 'tutorial discussion'. Do anyone agrees?

To write a few words on my take on this so far:

Various moderators and other insiders have posted in the thread, and my impression is that Vicky isn't abondoned. However, Johan, who I presume is the one who has the definite say in this, is on vacation, and therefore doesn't have the opportunity to comment/reply to this right now. My hope is that when he gets back, our letter and the ensuing discussion will be brought to his attention and that he'll have something to say on the subject.

When we made the letter, the intention was to see if we could get the official take on the status of the game and some insights into what's in store for it in the future, and perhaps spark some debate on the larger issues concerning the game. I think that we can say so far so good.

(All we need to do now, is to figure out the timetable for flights from Longyearbyen to Stockholm.... ;) )

:) Rafiki

I know, notice my name at the end of the letter? :) The tutorial talk evolved out of 'how to fix the game' talk, but you're right, it's time for it to have its own thread.

Yup, that's what I did. Aside from actually entering all the text, the only problem now if that the windows appear over the sidebar and there doesn't seem to be a command to make them appear elsewhere. Damn HoI and its other side sidebar!
