Peter Ebbesen said:As a trivial example completely out of proportion with the tutorial request (so, it is fighting dirty), just about all customers of Paradox games are clamoring for significantly more bughunting, balancing, interface programming, and general testing before game release, which taken together would probably expand the development time by 40%-50% (given the short length of the current development cycle), but it is not clear that it would generate enough extra buyers to pay off.
Why does that sort of thing have to cost a lot? The answer would seem to be more betatesters. I know it takes time to manage the testers so a limit is imposed on the total number possible to coordinate before it cuts too much into development time. Ok. But Johan has also said 3/4 of the testers drop out during testing, for various reasons. Why then not harvest the forum for additional testers? I'm sure I'm not the only one here that would have been thrilled to be offered a beta slot, and I'm sure we could have helped.
