So as many of you guys (and girls) may or may not know the Steam Winter Sale just started and a lot of games are currently massively discounted. (CURSE YOU STEAM FOR TAKING ALL MY MONEY!) Ahem where was I? Oh yes discounted games; one of the games that is discounted is Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars (the 2016 version). I was wondering as someone who generally enjoys Stellaris would it worth picking up for $15?
I ask because while most of the Steam reviews are positive (I know never trust Steam reviews) all the recent ones are negative, and in fact one of them suggests buying Stellaris instead. Most of the negative comments appear to boil down to either "this game is too much like Master of Orion 2" or "It's not enough like previous Master of Orion games". Having never played a MOO game though I have nothing to compare it with, so will be less likley to judge it base on nostalgia. So I guess my question really is, is the new Master of Orion game good enough to stand on its own or should I pass on it?
