I bought COTN today just to get the copy of EU2 that comes with it. it's patched to 1.07 and includes several mods including the agc.

1) should I continue with the agc or download and play with eep? which is better and why?

2) if I download the beta patches, will the copy of agc that comes with the game work with them?

1) Both mods have their own unique changes, although there will soon be a merger if things go well. My suggestion is to try them both.
2)No, patching will not inhibit the AGC that comes with the game in any way. By all means, go ahead and patch.

I have both, and i can only give you my own gaming experience.
Technically, the AGC is better for me. It's never crushed or had any sort of problems, while the EEP displays 21 (i counted them exactly) error messages on loading and sometimes the game crashes. Guess that depends on the order you install the mods or on he exact mods you have. There's some kind of database mismatch.
Then, about the mods themselves, I think there isnt much difference. I always play different countries with AGC and EEP so i dont know if there're a lot of differences in the events. The EEP however yields some really strange developments of history! lol, like Spain (controlled by the AI?!) owning all of central europe up to poland, besides its homeland.

Sehnsucht , I forgot to mention that if you patch, be sure to read over some of the changes. A few of them are major, and really messed me up when I first started playing.

Two main ones that I remember are: War Taxes do not decrease stablilty, they increase inflation, and tax collectors are now essential to gain census tax from your provinces. Also, some of the pop-up help thingies in the game do not reflect new changes, adding to the confusion.

When in doubt, just ask in the forum.

hmm.. then you did somethign very wrong installing it i guess :D
while it is true that there are some bugs in the events, so that they not work as intended, it never displays error messages for me..
