An Interesting Notice..

Hello, I am a small Paradox community member, and a fan of the tears, sweat, and blood that are put into the games.

I have just finally joined the forums to join people's conversation.

However, something I noticed is the rate in which EU4, CK2, and even Stellaris receives far more development attention then HOI4 does... This saddens me, and I believe this is the due to the smaller development team that works on HOI4.

I am curious as to why this is, thank you.

There was a thread posted the other week about this. Read through this and it should explain everything.

Counting only expansions.

Is what I had found - proving and showcasing that HOI4 is the least updated and taken cared of game.

Incorrect. Even a Dev responded by saying it is not. The expansions are larger and the game is a lot more difficult to deal with than those other Paradox games. Like I wrote, read though that thread, and you should respond there to those people who dealt with all of that.

The time between updates is a poor basis for deciding that HOI is the proverbial red headed stepchild.

HOI is much more complex mechanically than the other games and this particular update is very extensive in the changes it is making. Comparing the priority of updating the games strictly on time between is not even apples to oranges. It is apples to car tires.

In your mind perhaps. No one is trying to get you to not believe what you choose to believe, but don't expect most to agree with you on such trivial "evidence".

HoI4 is a heck of a lot more "broken" than Stellaris.

Also, Stellaris' devs got to "fix" their broken things (FTL types, planet tiles, etc.) by throwing them out. Don't see the HoI team doing that with the battle planner or the naval invasion AI, for instance. Their coding people have to do things the hard way, probably taking breaks to lie in the fetal position in the lunch room.

You say that with a straight face like putting out a real content DLC is as simple as ordering a pizza. It will be ready when it is ready. We should be grateful that the company values the HOI team enough to give them the latitude to do things right. If they were forced to follow some arbitrary deadline regardless of progress then we would have something to worry about.

Pinpointing release patterns? Take a look at the other Paradox games which DLC was released this or last month. You act as though Hoi4 receives adequate attention from Paradox, when that can't be far from the truth just by simply analyzing numbers..

Would you take the last EU4 DLC as comparision? Its lacks content, changes and love, so iam very happy that Hoi gets a big rework in mechanics. Hoi4 DlCs getting better everytime, TfV was meh, DoD was right, WtT startet core changes and MtG will change a huge amount of features and mechanics.

Measuring attentionen with the pure amount of revived DLCs and not the content in it is very unfair.

Indeed.

EUIV's lackluster DLCs have apparently become such an issue they're making a big post about the future direction of the game in a week or two. (I was also rather surprised to see the release Goldern Century so shortly after Dharma.)

Meanwhile, I have not even installed HoIIV because of upcoming Man the Guns, and I didn't touch either CK2 or Stellaris from once their expansions were announced until release.

Not the frequency, it's the quality.

(And, as with everything, things that might seem simple to do often turn out not to be and take disproportionate amounts of time to do).

All games have different sized teams working on them but none of them are "small". Teams differ in size depending on the number of things currently in development for the product and as such claiming that a team is "small" is fairly vague misleading. As has been pointed out this has been discussed before and there is no need to kick this off once more.
