I think it's a neato idea. We're definitely interested in exploring the management genre a bit more.

2 things however;

1: What is spore? is it a management game? is it a strategy game? The game had a very, very wide scope and I feel the game suffered overall because of this. I think if we'd do something like this it would probably skip the last 2 of the stages (i believe there were 5 in total?

2: If we are to do other forays into the genre I think there are other, bigger, jucier holes to plug. Having made Cities in Motion 1 & 2 I think a take on the Transport Tycoon subgenre would be cool. Then again Open TTD is such an amazing game so I'm not sure anyone actually needs a new game. Other favorites in the genre - Theme hospital! Or maybe something Sims-like but more hardcore - only Sims is doing great and the fanbase is largely happy.
