Finally crusades are getting expanded with new (DLC) content. Got me thinking, any chance the HRE could get some new events/flavour/decisions too?
As the political entity changed how it operated over the course of it's history it would be nice if there was in-game events, triggers or decisions that would slowly change how the HRE operated. Such as more emphasis on Imperial Diets and how they changed from semi-informal gatherings to important functions with in the empire.
Potential important missing events/decisions:
* The Lex Thuringorum, Lex Saxonum and the Diet of 919
- Incorporating other Germanic cultures into the empire, perhaps reduces rebels/factions?
* Informal college of Electors (rise of Salian line)
- Enforce elective succession, temporary electors on emperor death/ill-health?
* The investiture Controversy
- General papal conflict, supporting Popes & deposing Popes
* The 1158 Diet of Roncaglia (loss of centralisation & drift of Italian states)
- Increase faction support modifier?
* The Golden Bull of 1356 (formalising elections, EU4 style)
- Move to standard elective succession with permanent electors
Other flavour events/decisions:
* Switching between True elective or Dynastic elective
* The "imperator Romanorum" title adoption (Byzantine tensions)
* Raising of duchies into kingdoms (Bohemia duchy)
* The Ostsiedlung (German east expansion) and the Imperial immediacy (Teutonic Knights)
Think I covered most of what the HRE did in CK2's timeline, just not sure how this would actually work as game mechanics, so if anyone could add suggestions as to how it would work?...
