An AI unified Spain - yeah, it's true!

Well I had a game as the Ottomans yesterday, and guess what..
Castile, as the leader, went into a Personal Union with Aragorn in 1523 and then bacame Spain a few years later, I almost made a little dance as this is the first time ever I have seen the AI forming in a rather "historical" way.
I'm rather curious, does the AI usually form Spain in your games? and have any of you ever seen Castile in a personal union with Aragorn?

They try. But they can`t annex Barcelona, because they are too stupid to invade the islands. So white peace after white peace.

Spain formed in my game probably as the result of the second event in spanishnation.txt. That was good. They also annexed Navarre, and that was good. But Castile and Aragon later formed again on the Canaries and Malta respectively, where they've been for the last 100 years. That was bad. Forming a nation should remove all cores from your predecessor.

Yeah, it seems the only time Spain ever forms when not human controlled is when Castille and Aragon have a personal union between 1506-1516.

Yep, and that is really rare it happens, that was also why I became so stunned when it suddenly happened to me

It happened to me... in the late 1760s, a couple of decades after Castille inherited Aragon.
After some time, Castille appeared as revolter...

Wow, a rare occurrence I'm sure. It seems to be a perennial problem, it barely ever happened in EUII either.

in my game spain formed rather fast (inheritence of aragorn i remember), and just a few years later they got massive revolts and lost half spain to....castille! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

GB (twice)
Spain (twice)
Italy (once)
Germany (once)
Russia (three times)

However, it was almost only in the games where i played a trade-minor

Great Britain almost always forms in my game. In fact, the only time it hasn't formed is in my current game. For the first time, Scotland and England are allies. Normally, Scotland would be overrun in a hundred years. Italy, Germany, Russian and Ireland, I have never seen. Spain only once. I've played around 4-5 games that reached the 1700s.

Great Britain almost always forms in my game.

Interesting! In my games, England is always able to get some of the scotish provinces, but scotland stays allied with other majors so England often lost
its continental provinces when they declared war on scotland...

True enough. Though at least these days we don't get Spain and Aragon co-existing. Progress I guess.

i haad this in my mongol game. starting in 1479 aragon was already a vassal of castille. when 1.2 finally came, one of their first things was to diplo-annex the colonial empire of aragon and form a really frightening spain.

WOW I have never seen Germany, Italy, Ireland, or Spain. Only Great Britain. If I saw Italy or Spain forming I would probably freak out and keep that save forever and never annex them.

Probably only 30 games played with 5 actually going to 1791

Maybe it would help if they had some weird calculation in the AI where if the AI has good prospects of diplo-annexing a nation they should prefer vassalization over getting a few provinces (like if the AI is super huge and the nation it dominated is half its size or so) . That should let the formation event for Spain fire right ? Or is it only personal unions ?

I saw AI Castille inherit Aragon right around 1500, and become Spain a few years later. I was impressed with the nearly dead-right historical bit, and it reaffirmed my faith in the system of dynamic events, showing that history can happen just like real life in the game.

i've seen it unify many times in this current patch. Not in my current game though but they are conquering them at the moment so I assume it will happen eventually.
