Sorry if i go off topic here, but speaking of amphibous landing, yesterday I SeaLion-ed England thanks to what, with hindsight, might be an exploit.
I was lucky to be able to land in a sea province in southern England, which had two appealing qualities: it was not garrisoned, and was bordering a Port province to the E, and not far from another to the W. All went well, including a sea skirmish with british units which was worrying but was luckily won. The best part of it is that fast unit disembarked in no time.
Now, the potential exploit. Being used to HoI 2, I expected the units I just landed to suffer reorganisation penalties (i.e. a delay in combat readiness), as well as supply issues. Well, I was instead able to immediately attack and rapidly take the Port province with the armour I had just landed. After that, I just had to ferry reinforcements from France and England was quickly captured.
I would say that the lack of orgnisation penalty upon disembraking was an exploit for two reasons:
- it allowed me to avoid a seaborne assault on a garrison (port) province, which would have been almost certainly impossible due to the lenght of the battle, wich would have in turn allowed the enemy to attack me with his overwhelming navy
- it render the enemy counterattack less effective (i.e. there was no way of throwing me back into the sea, to quote Rommel)
What do you think?
PS: exploit or not, it was SOOO good to get rid of strategic bombing over my cities!!
