I'm using 1.4 but I'm not sure this is the reason as it didn't say such in the readme files. But, I'm noticing I'm getting invaded along the entire French coast. I thought invasions could only take place at ports? This normal or a bug?
Interesting, but why didn't they also bring back the beaches then? Guess it's still possible to just defend the ports well though and watch them starve after getting a few provinces...

AI should (I hope) focus on taking nearby ports after they land, not just running willy-nilly through the countryside until you decide to do something
I'm a bit sceptic about it though. If the AI fail to capture a port within 30 days...
I'm a bit sceptic about it though. If the AI fail to capture a port within 30 days all these units it transported will die (even more so if we take into account that with 1.4 patch unsupplied units will loose their org).
I recon for a player it will all depend on how far the invasion will be able to push forward to stir things up before dying by starvation. It may give history some twists AI vs AI wise though.
I thought this too, so I landed my japanese troops next to the Chinese ports, but they all ran out of supplies the second they reached the shore, odd...

I have to admit to not being a fan of the "any coast can be invaded" model. In WW2, the criteria for a stormable beach were pretty stringent.
Now I cannot finish the invasion of France then immedietly transfer every division to the East, confident noone would invade for a few months until my garrison divisions were ready.
