As default, the game have quite light traffic which makes the buslane-roads quite unneeded. But that can be changed with an easy trick. You need to copy map files from Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Cities In Motion 2/CIM2_Data/Data/Maps to Users/My user name/AppData/LocalLow/Colossal Order/Cities in Motion 2/Maps (you may need to change windows settings to make that AppData folder to display), and open the ingame editor where you can set the traffic amount with slider. Default value is 50 which can be changed up to 200. Then just save that with own map name and it will show in the sandbox. Much more challenging now to play with combined expert settings. :)

I will try my best with the unlimited money mode and hopefully post video of the result. :) Could take some time, but would be cool to make the town look like Tokyo with multilevel roads everywhere.

The value may affect on people using public transport. I had busses very empty first, but not sure if it was the expert difficulty setting.

Doesn't the value also have an impact on how many people use public transport?

I would like to know this because in my city there are basically no people walking, no cars and nobody uses public transport...
Cities are empty. That's how they managed to make them big...

Basically you just need add big exits (3 lane) from highways then slip it slowly to smaller and smaller bridge roads that end up around the city. As you would have mass transit stations around the city with big separation. You get the traffic flow better and better while adding more and more those "highway exit trees". The less cars need to enter/exit the highway through the same location, the less there is jams. Much fun design/create those.

Edit: Cortez, if you watch that video you see the cities are far from empty. :) And once the cars dont stuck on highways, they spend more time on city street.

I've juste made a test in removing expressways from the Central City. And as weird as it sounds. It solves most traffic issue!

Maybe expressways are just too attractive...

How do I find the traffic amount? slider?

It's in the editor when you click the question mark button on the right side of the screen.

I boosted it up to 200 on one of my own maps to try it out yesterday, it was like night and day. All the roads became clogged with traffic at 200. I'm still trying to find a happy medium, as the default setting has barely any traffic at all on my map, boosting it to 90 still didn't see hardly any traffic, and of course boosting to 200 overwhelmed my streets with private cars.

I must admit that so far, I had only one case where the vanilla traffic caused some problems which is a little bit sad...
But going from no traffic to gridlock is a bit too much... someone tested a bit the possible values to have juste the right amount not to have gridlock but still challenging traffic ?

I honestly think it's going to depend on the individual map and how the roads are laid out. Each map I think will be different, no one size will fit all (I think).
