So I remember a dev commenting about the amount of unique researchable technologies being 300 or 300 years (don't remember which). Now the question is, is there theoretically infinite amount of researchable non unique technologies like 5% more damage to lasers, that are essentially upgrades to pre-existing technologies?

Tldr: will we ever hit a point in the game where there is nothing to research?

I think there will be a point in the game where there will be nothing left to research but you'd have to be playing for quite along time.

Wait so we got technologies we can research for limitlessly? Guess I still alot to catch up on.
Yes, Martin said so in the last Blorg stream. Cknoor asked what the strike craft tech was and martin pointed out a symbol on its icon that he said denotes an infinitely repeatable research so that you always have something to research.

I'm hoping that there are some technologies that are so rare that even late in the game they may randomly pop up far into the future when you're not really expecting it (i.e. you've been doing repeatable techs only for centuries).

Didn't the devs say that its almost impossible to get all of the techs in one play through because rare techs might not be reshuffled back in to the deck?

I think they said along the lines that there was no guarantee that you get it again in a playthrough but I don't think they've mentioned anything about it being near impossible to get once you missed the opportunity.

I meant it's near impossible to get ALL of the techs because some rare tech won't show up again if you don't decide to research them the first time you find them.

I think it more depends how long you play the game. I'd say you probably won't get all techs, rare or not, in a normal playthrough. So considering that, then yeah, it probably will be near impossible.

We've been told by devs that some rare techs are only obtainable through anomalies research or feasible through carcass salvage research.
