Casluerj said:You say about Napoli. I say about Santos. He made Santos, not a capitol team, won two times the world club championship and the Libertadores da América. Did Napoli do that? And in Santos he was "alone".
And you're wrong. Without Pele, Brazil probably wouldnt have won in 58, 62 and 70. Rivelino, Gerson, Tostão and the other were always co-actors in a team commanded by Pelé. Garrincha may be the only except to this, but he didnt played in '70.
I like Maradona's way of play (I didnt see Pelé play as most of us here) but for me he is in the same level of Zico and Di Stefano.
Maradona won the serie A twice with a team that was in the doldrums before he arrived. He also finished second twice. The serie A was then the best league in the world. Winning the Brazillian league or the copa libertodores cannot compare to it. Brazil practically won the 62 world cup without him as he was injured in the second game so you are obviously wrong about that Cas. Also the team that won in '62 without Pele was pretty much identical to the team that won in '58 so I think Brazil couldve won in '58 without him as well. And in 1970 Pele was past his prime. You take him out of that team and they would still win. But you take Maradona out of the '86 team and Argentina probably get knocked out in the second round.
Both Maradona and Di Stefano were better players than Zico. Both of them are at the same level as Pele, but Zico wasnt. I liked Zico and the '82 Brazil team but as good a player as he was, he wasnt in the same league as Maradona or Di Stefano.
