Do the Austrians have a ship able to fight that? A ship that moves without oars or sails! A ship not built with wood! We in France know that we don't have currently any ship that could defeat that strange vessel. We only can hope that by boarding our brave soldiers could defeat it.

Actually, with what strange mechanism was that picture created. We are most certain that is not a painting or a drawing.

Let it be known that after careful study of the Bible and sacred writings, in company of learned english preachers, the king of France -Henry III- has discovered the true faith, put behind his heretic ways and expeled the false teachers of the Pope. And in his palace he had recanted his previous ideas and embraced with all his heart the only way to Salvation.

And he expects every french to follow him in the true faith and pray that other countries can have the bliss of communion with Christ and be assured their place in Heaven.

From now on, France is reformed. Let us all humbly pray to the Lord.

To the crowned Heads of Europe,

Due to the recent communication from Paris. Austria solemnly claims the protectorship over the catholic subjects around the world but we also express our consideration and acceptance of every faith under our banner. Despite we know the true faith is the Catholicism represented by the Holy Father in Rome and with the Viceroy as his Right Armed Hand, we will be tolerant with France as we have been with our neighbours and friends that have also embrace heretics points of view of Cristianism.

Ferdinand of Habsburg

20 years of religious problems

1553 started fine, thought Henry II. Luxembourg was secured from Austria, and the reformation was acclaimed by Henry and his advisors. And then Malacca was taken, and the eastern centers of commerce discovered (and monopolized). Our trade -even if could not grow all that could due to the stability problems- is the most important in the world. We guess everyone likes french wine. All was right in France.

The only problem were the catholics. Only in Caux, Auvergne and in the colony of Palanas they could be convinced to join the true salvation. The rest of the provinces could not abandon their old and false ways. In Normandie twice the rightful and just preachers of the Reformed Church had to confess failure. But we are confident in the final victory of the true religion.

Specially when the evil catholics had plotted against our dear king in all provinces, disrupting the land and making revolts here and there. But, although they call themselves the Catholic League and talk about 'Wars of Religion', we all know that they are only a small band of doomed people.

In our foreign relations, France participated in the League for the Protection of Poland, that avoided the vassalization of that honorable, ancient and proud nation.

OT- I take the -3 BB.

Hmm, Austria would be glad if the French King in the communications coming from Paris respect a little bit the religion of his neighbours ;)

Well, I was talking about the French Catholic League. They are a small band of doomed people. Or the archduke defend the rights of that ragtag group of so-called rebels? They will be defeated, even if they -I don't know how- they manage to defeat almost every effort by my dear preachers.

Well, those people perhaps being rebels and all, they are catholics, so I implore the good king of France to punish them just for being rebels not for being catholics.. thanks :)

Maybe the french preachers would like a small course with our inquisition group, since we have managed to peacefully retrieve the insurgence of branches of the good and only true faith. Also, perhaps the head of the religious administration (in other words your ADM level) is not really prepare for that task, you should wait until a better administrative group comes at your service ;).

The Council is really not up to task, and we didn't expected a full conversion of the country. But we certainly expected, given their abilities, a better result (OOC, in other words closer to the 40% advertised success rate, rathern than the 15% we actually got)

We are suffering at the moment a somewhat reduction of the attention by our Inquisitional Group, this haven't hurt our advances but it has surely reduced the number of results (in other words :p .. these last two monarchs have sucked at ADM level, I miss Karl V :( )

1553 - 1573 English Grow

Finally England started to showed to the World her true face. After years of stagnation and decline, the Kingdom managed to grew more than 60% its economy… the biggest in this period.

The Monarchy invested a lot in trade and colonization. A new infrastructure technology was invented, trade expanded new lands discovered and occupied by English settles.

England created a new way to achieve Indonesia, going all easts from Madagascar. Also islands in this way were discovered and colonized and Bourbon was founded as the first French city in the Indic Ocean. Finally, then England achieved the big and rich island of Java and claimed all for herself.

India subcontinent was also discovered and the province of Goa immediately colonized. All of this was achieved without forgetting about the old, but good English lands in North America, Massachusetts, Roanoke, Connecticut, Stadacone became English cities while England expanded old possessions and created new ones like, Biloxi, Tuscaloosa and Savannah.

Finally, also, England built its first manufactories (England has 2 now), a naval one located in the Highlands where its docks will start to produce the best ships of the Kingdom. The Highlands port (Scapa Flow) is also where the Supreme Super Alien Boat (that one that Henry bought from weird creatures) is located.

Following the illuminated English policy and Duchies of Holstein and Mecklenburg and the Counties of Bremen and Oldenburg gained more autonomy, but are still under English sphere of influence and all of these nobles have a high influence in the London court.

In the foreign policy an alliance with France was agreed and England also renewed the alliance she had with Poland, to protect this ancient European Kingdom from those barbarians Asians called Russians.

Suddenly what we are expecting happened and Russia attacked Poland. But at this time the world wouldn’t watch this like it had last times. 2 days after the declaration of the war, Russia saw itself at war against Poland, Ottoman Empire, England, France and Austria. Only Sweden stayed neutral… why? The World doesn’t know… maybe thinking that they are eternally protected from the Russian horde.

After some battles in Lithuania and in the Baltic States, the Czar realized that the allies wouldn’t let Russia vassalize Poland and then peaced out.

Yeah, we in Vienna wonders also about this... Stockholm court should had enter into the coallition otherwise we wouldn't have thought about Sweden being too friendly with the hostile ruler of Russia... ;)

The King of France do not remember that Sweden had ever received an attack from Russia, or a threat to their independence. The coalition was formed by the 2 neighbours that had been attacked (and lost provinces) and their respective friends. We do not find strange that Sweden did not participated in the war.

(OOC, and people is demanding Sweden too? The war was not that unbalanced because of the participants, England and France sent only relativelly small expeditionary forces and Austria sent a larger part of their army, but I think for neither of them was a major effort. But if Sweden could had participated the thing could had moved from 'unbalanced but not that much' in 'definitely unbalanced'

BTW, since I think France+England+Poland is an alliance too large, comprising a large part of the MP and income of the game, I think France will abandon the alliance. We will remain friendly with our allies, but really France is 2nd richest and among the largest MP, England is 3rd richest I beleive and their MP is high for english standards, and Poland do not have a low MP; and this is a 8 person game, 3 person alliances should be banned unless they are formed by 2 small countries).
