There might not be any British provinces in N. America. The British might take a whole different attitude to colonial possessions. There might not be a Seven Years' War that needs taxes raising to cover the costs of. The French might not bankrupt themselves trying to support the revolutiong out of spite to the British. Paul Revere might trip over a rock and not make it back to Concord in time .....

Whether or not things happen depends on what other things happen. Revolts in the colonies will depend largely on your colonial policy, and revolts at home will depend largely on your domestic policy, no matter what country you are - which is exactly as it was IRL. Just because the countries involved happened to be the USA, France and Britain, is no reason at all to assume that there was anything special about them.

Apropos of the USA-affecting-things-by 1792 argument, and how it relates to EU; the best way to model this is to end the game in 1776 and avoid it, but 300 years is a nice round number :D

tis ture...too many events and items tied together caused theser things to occur to spark these revelutions..but then again one could argue the same thing bout Sweden becoming a major power or Enlgand? the climate was ripe for them to make moves..but what if it wasnt? woudl the same leaders have emerged? woudl their choices in religion have been the same? what if Gustav had died formt he bullet in his neck during the polish campain rather then survive it?, what if the other side had one england's 100 year war? lots of what ifs.....i agree on wait and see policy for eu2..lets see what its like..i dont believe the USA should be hartdcoded to happen..but any colonial area should have chance to revolt and form a nation depending on your policies..if it happens to be in the americas then yay USA can be born..if not oh well...although maybe they could hard code an alternative scenario where historical rebellions will indeed take place automatically...and you have choice to play it over one less scripted.

as for revelutions keep in mind Poland also played a part in sparking the USA and frnehc revelutions...a Polish General became the father of american cavalry..and he outfought the english time and time again raiding their supplies, attacking infantry columns..his efforts had enormous impact as even Washington decorated him for his efforts and gave him total free reign to do as he saw fit..as he knew what he was doing..this many came form Poland after having fought in one of Poland's various attempts to break the yoke on her neck <during the partition era> the revolt failed due to poloitcal scabbling not because failure on the battlefield...and he went to the americas to help there when he heard of rebellion to come...thinking his skills could be of service...and several Polish generals served in Napolean's armies ..and a Polish army was raised to fight under his banner during the Napoleonic wars..so if you want toi go hardcoding stuff then how are you gonna treat this? hardcode Polish revolts very 20 or 30 years which is what happened?...no i dont think they can or will...their effect on history is best left to historians...as they cannot be truly used within the game mehcanics as they stand....most other nations also had such effects on many events...but we cant go hardcoding every little thing..else we'd be reading a book rather then playing a game

by the way..the Polish General's name was Polaski i think..hes in the Polish leader files..and his stats suck for a guy that was supposedly better on the battlefield then any english cavalryman of the time and he consistantly outfoguth outmaneuvered the British army commanders...wracking up a higher win ration than any general of the revelutionary war...so i think hsi stats need tweaking

Your point is well made; in the conquer-everything games it gets quite ridiculous to see France reduced to a single province, a combined military force of 200 infantry and six cannon, and have to choose between half a dozen super-stats leaders to command it :D

OTOH, historical leaders and monarchs add to the realism in many ways, for all the odd faults they can cause. Some method of comparing how well a given country is doing, and allocating a number of generals accordingly, would help; although tendencies should be kept in place to give some variety, and in any game where France IS strong, the leaders she gets can be the historical ones.
