Can we just make it now so the United States has a decision to take American culture. It bothers me knowing it exists and it's so super hard to get. In no way would the decision be benificial to my knowledge so it shouldn't be too much of a big deal I would think. I'd be alright for you to have to be the United States and in thr British culture group too. Anyhoo would make me enjoy when I do England to released US a lot more

Yeah I know that's why I said I'd be alright if it was only if the US was in the English culture group.

I know it's not a big deal but since the culture is in the game I was just thinking it'd be nice, and wouldn't really change power dynamics. Basically just wishful thinking by me.

I thought "American" was in the British culture group? I've never actually seen it so I could be wrong.
You could create an American culture for each culture group, so there would be a French American if USA was formed by France, or a Spanish American, or Portuguese etc. So when the USA becomes independent, its primary culture and all of its provinces change to American in the culture group that they originated from. No idea if that's feasible or not, but it would be a way of having an American culture that isn't restricted to just the British.

British colonies will often have an event that converts culture in one of their provinces to American. It doesn't really work, because colonies are very eager to convert cultures and even though it is in their culture group, they just tend to spend Dip MP to get rid of this heresy.

If a colonist is present, he will flip the culture back to English or Scottish on the next month unless something has changed

The culture can only really appear in colonies which get developed and finish without an active colonist

It actually just appears in finished colonies. By colonies I meant colonial nations.

MEIOU has a colonial version of most culture groups, even ones that historically never did much colonizing, like Greek. It's a nice touch, and I wish Paradox was a little more willing to steal good ideas from mods for small touches like this

The USA isn't always formed by a English culture group, so I don't know how consistent it would be. There are event's that switch the culture of a province in the region to American, and IIRC they changed the AI so it doesn't always convert them back.

I had very enjoyable game recently where I created a Moroccan Sunni US, freed it and took over. Proceeded to conquer all of north america. Had some native cultures accepted, but everyone was Sunni.

It actually broke the immersion a bit, that america was tied to the british culture group. I would get events naming ppl like "Frederick Augustus Sellami"

Aren't names tied to culture or are they tied to your nation. I've never seen american culture form without my direct influence, even then I have to be lucky. But yeah that's why I want the decision only if usa is in thr British culture group

They are tied to both. Kongo, for example, has many Portuguese ruler names because historically it converted to Catholicism and presumably they adopted “Christian” names. When I formed Malaya as Hindu Majaphit, I all of a sudden started getting “Muslim” names even after eradicating Islam in Southeast Asia. But a custom nation can roll random names for any culture, so there must be culture pools for names as well.

Edit: It’s annoying that as Kongo you get Portuguese names regardless of religion. Nothing beats Manikongo Garcia inheriting the throne a decade before the Euros even showed up...

IMO, PDS should make it so that a new culture can be created by the game and added into any Culture Group. And the new culture should be created when the Colonial Nation forms USA, Brazil, Mexico, etc. So, for example, if France controls Thirteen Colonies and they form USA, they should be of American culture and in the French culture group.

Or better:
- it appears when LD is high and starts switching your provinces like Protestantism in the olden days. In Age of Enlightenment (or in Age of Revolutions as it is annoyingly called in the game), this gets especially severe
- if LD reaches 90%, it switches the culture of the Colonial Nation itself
- the more provinces are of that culture, the bigger LD
